How many fills do you think you could get off a station THIS size?

    How many fills do you think you could get off a station THIS size?

    Hello everyone, I have been looking lately into a new bulk fill station. My scuba tank is no where near enough to handle 7 people using nitrogen at any given day, so I looked into some industrial-grade cylinders....

    Anyways, how many 68/3k fills do you think I could get off a 600cubic foot, 6000psi cyilinder? I was thinking in the area of 100-150 , but wanted a opinion from someone else.

    Also, any ideas on how much it would cost to get one filled by a bulk fill station?

      Yikes--I would say you're definitely going to need a regulator. Be sure you know what you're doing with this...filling tanks up to 6k psi when they're rated for 3k is obviously no good, and I wouldn't simply depend on the gauges and shutting off the flow before you exceed 3k. Hence, a GOOD regulator to drop the 6k to 3k is needed.

      But yeah, that sounds like a great idea. The problem with SCUBA tanks is that as soon as you fill off it at all, you've got less than 3000 psi in the tank...which of course is solved by your huge volume/high pressure tank. Let me know how it goes, this may be a good fit between SCUBA and full-fledged fill-station for some people.

          My local welding gas supply shop gets $28 for a refill, but I'm not sure if that's for a 4500psi or a 6000psi tank. It costs $75 to lease the tank. ACI makes a fill station, it sells for around $340. countypaintball.com carries them.

              I know that Im gonna need a valve (the kind nitroduck sells, I've seen them in use before). I was just wondering if anyone here has experiance with these stations on how much fills you get.

                  Volume is no more worthless than the air we breathe, for example:

                  when you get low on that tank there will be 600 cubic feet of air that you cannot use at a given pressure... just a thaught to remind you of~

                      True, you'll never be able to run it "dry" so to speak, but your pressure in the tank will be less affected the loss of 68ci when the tank is large.

                              no you can rent nitrogen tanks and fill your nitro system with that... or you can rent compressed air tanks also

                                  You can get nitrogen, oxygen, argon , ect. valves for the stations.
