I just wondered how the company came about. And when/why tom became president of AGD, I know at one point he wasn't the president (the automag video shows him as the R&D guy).

From Greek mythology comes the tale of a God, sent down from Mount Olympus, to show mortal man they ways of the immortals. The God became a mortal so as to live among the people of earth as one of them.
The God took a name, Tom Kaye, and saw that mans entertainment consisted of playing a game called "paintball". The Tom God knew that the guns man used were inferior to the ones the immortals had on Mount Olympus, and so decided to share the Guns of the Gods with mankind.
AGD hired the Tom God to research how man could produce the Guns of the Gods so that all may partake in the game of paintball using the finest gun and equipment ever known. The Tom God showed the way for man to follow, and soon was raised upon the dias of AGD God, and all worshipped him.
When Mount Olympus called him back, the Tom God refused, saying that helping man is far more important than being a God. Mount Oylmpus saw this wisdom and granted him his wish to be mortal for all time.
Now you know the true story of AGD and why it has become the most revered paintball company in the land, and why we still think of Tom Kaye as nothing less than a God, sent to us by the wise inhabitants of the Mount.

He started off making zippers. Later he got into gumball stuff, and then paintball masks. Legend has it that he was working on a sprinkler system, and a magical PVC pipe talked to him and told him "Make a paintball gun in my image, and it will be good."
And thus it began.
