MSNBC shows true colors

Rather disgusted with MSNBC and their choice of editorial cartoons to post. So to do my part I am spreading this as far as I can so as many as possible can see it and make their decisions.
There's all kind of songs about babies and love gone right, but for some unknown reason nobody wants to play them tonight.

    To be fair:

MSNBC pulled the cartoon... but its still on their site? They claimed it did not meet their standards.

Its author was Ted Rall. At tedrall.com

They do still however publish his attacks.

That disgusts me. It debases the sacrifice of all of our troops. That jerk should have included that Bin Laden trained his troops in Afghanistan and that is why we attacked.

      Just another liberal liar!!!!

This bottom feeder thinks he is god or something, like we should all be enlightened by him, look at his rant on his website:

          I hate this guy

And these people make me sick...

          Prepare yourself...

5 mins with Rall is all i ask for so we could discuss our differences.

All I looked at on the Agit page was the very first page the link goes to. While I do not agree with their assertions on our leaders intelligence they do not anger me. Public officials have always been and will always be the butt of a jokes. This is a given before anyone runs for office. It is not given when signing up with Uncle Sam that your death will be mocked and ridiculed. That angers me to no end.

i agree this Rall is a punk. And is an idiot if he thinks that his cartoon is just supposed to "stimulate discussion" as he says. Hes a typical attention whore, who will do something controversial just so he can get a few minutes to spout off his agenda. He loses any credibility once he starts attacking people whos only fault was they wanted to serve thier country.

                  as for that other site:

hehe i like his Texaco star on his hat. "Vive la Aceite!"

That guy is a jerk. Whether or not he agrees with Bush, or the war, it's morally reprehensible to insult a brave dead man like that. I actually hope someone attacks him in the street and beats the snot out of him.

Yeah. That is what we should do. Beat people up for expressing themselves (no matter how dumb their opinion).

Which is more insulting to Tillman? A cartoon that attacks him or turning our country into something other than the one he was willing to die for?

As I don't agree with the cartoon I don't think that Tillman should have gotten all the news that he has. Yes it's a heroic and patriotic story but in the end he enlisted just like thousands before him. All I have to say is that if my brother was to die in Afghanistan today, he would not get this type of press. It saddens me to no end that one troop is held higher then the other hundreds that have died before/after him.
                        Sorry, I'm old

aaron_mag, I am a big supporter of free speech, and I'm sure you can find a few posts of mine on the subject, if you look. But I draw the line at defamation of character, and especially when the person being defamed is unable to defend themselves. Ted Rall referred to the US Army, and it's Allies, as a "low-rent army of occupation", and called a dead soldier an idiot for joining up. I was really offended by that, and I know I'm not alone.

I'm not offended by the big deal being made over Pat Tillman's death. That's just how the mass media works. How many of you were offended by the media attention paid to Jessica Lynch last year? She was one of seven POWs from that group, but she was the only one to get hyped because she was young and pretty. Tillman is at least someone the country was familiar with beforehand, so the interest in his death is natural. If one of the many movie-stars who served in WW2 had died, I'm sure there would have been the same response.

RoadDawg, I hope your brother comes home safe. If by some chance he doesn't, I hope he gets all the attention and respect he deserves. I think that thread from last week "I'm speechless" showed that America honours all her war dead.

Totally agree with you on Tillman. He is getting hype because his story was unusual. How many of us would make the same choice? So there is nothing wrong with the mass media zeroing in on something out of the ordinary.

Also agree with you on Jessica Lynch. She was young and pretty. People could jump on the band wagon with her picture leading the way. BUT it isn't her fault that she is young and pretty. Alot of people started to attack her character instead of just saying, "Well. This is how the media works. It isn't her fault they chose to focus on her." It wasn't like she was running around trying to promote herself. She was a cog in the wheel.

In the end, however, it says more about ourselves than it does about Tillman, Lynch, or the Mass Media. We crave heros and we want them to be packaged nicely for us....
