    What's the best mask/lens/fan combo?

    Ok, I'll admit it...I'm a sweaty pig.

Whew, now that that is off my chest, here is my dilemma.

I wear glasses. BUT, I've recently tried contacts, and they seem ok for me while playing. I'll never be able to wear them for days at a time, but they work for short periods.
I have been using Brass Eagle Maxx Vision goggles to fit around my glasses, but now I'd like to try something different.
JT has so many different options, its very hard to decide what is the best. So I am soliciting your valued opinions.

    Here is the criteria:

    1. NOT a Proteus (I just hate them for some reason)
    2. Needs to fit a fan (which is better, Vortex or X-wind?)
    3. Thermal lens
    4. Black should be a color option
    5. Nice foam
    6. Price is not really an issue, so don't worry about that
part. I've long concluded that the mask is the most
important paintball accessory. Don't skimp on it.
    7. A large field of vision would be nice.

OK, get to it, what do you use, and what would you like to use?

I'm a sweaty pig that wears glasses too. I use a Vforce Sheild. I like it a lot. If you want a soft rubber face plate, get the Morph. I'm not running a fan and I have yet to fog it up at all. The field of vision is nice as well. The optically correct lens eliminates any distortion too.

I've used the regular ol' olive green Spectras for years now... with the crosswind fan, I rarely have problems with my glasses fogging. I think the Vortex is just a new name for the crosswind. I don't see any real difference between the two.

The difference between the X-Wind and Vortec is the switch. Vortec has a 3-way switch to change air flow direction.

I'm hearing a lot of good about the Vforce. I think I will get one.

VForce!!! We have been selling tons of VForce masks this year. And for good reason, they are great masks! Eyeglasses fit under them quite comfortably, and no one that I have sold one to has any problem with fogging. Plus. as an added bonus, the lens is much more scratch resistent than a traditional thermal lense. And because it is a one piece lens, you can buff out any scratches that you get with an acrylic/plactic polishing compound.

If you really want a mask/fan combo, try the JT Flex 7 or IZE with the new vortex. But, I will warn you that this will cost you as much as 2 VForce masks. Or, 1 VForce mask and a few different tinted/mirrored lenses....

          Good luck deciding.

IMHO, looks like a choice between the VForce and JT's Flex-7's. Me, I personally have been using JT ever since they came up with the Whipper Snapper, have no cause to fault them cause they work great for me. And I've tried em all...cept for the Skull.

I use to wear glasses and the Spectras were like a dream come true. Now I use contacts...and a Proteus.

Your best bet, try em both on for size. Get a feel for em and decide then. Best way to decide if ya ask me...:)

                Hope this helps..

i prefer Spectra system and now they just release a new Fade lens and put the Vortex fan on it

Vortex fan blows the air in and also it breaths those air out to (so it looks like a jet engine ,for neutralize the temp. inside the goggle) just keep air moving.
but the Crosswind only blow it in only

Just so you know, the JT Vortex fan will also fit a Diablo/Airtech Skul mask. So do the JT visors. Which is good, because Diablo has been promising us a Skul visor since the mask hit the market.

You should try on both a JT Flex 7/IZE (basicaly the same mask) and a Skul and see which you find more comfortable. I think you will be surprised... And the Skul is much cheaper too.

JT masks are great. Don't get me wrong, I do really like them. It's just that they are no longer the only game in town thanks to both the Skul and VForce masks.

As you may have guessed from my user name, I am a sweaty pig too!

But I pesonally sold my V-Force Morph and got a skul, in my opinion the most underrated mask out there. I've NEVER had it fog up to date.

                          Prescription inserts

Pev's has prescription inserts that I think fit all masks. Some of you guys with glasses may want to check them out.

                            Cheap fan!!

You want to know the best fan to get that will work with any mask no matter what brand you get. A............................. 12 volt computer fan from radio shack!!! I got that, a connector for a 9v battery and a swtich for $20. It works a heck of a lot better than a $60-$80 JT fan. Want to know why??? Because it accualy cools you off. Those JT and other fans that cost an arm and a leg don't even cool of the mask (from my own experiences). I took the fan that I made stuck it under the visor on my Scott mask and cut a tiny hole for it to blow wind through. Then I covered up all of the other holes for air to get out. The reason that I did this is because you want to pressureize the lens. That way it prevents humidity from building up on your lense. That way you can sweat as much as you want and there will be no build up of humidity on your lense at all! I used it for 8 hours of play and not once did I fog up. My freind is currently in the process of building his own laser sight for his gun from parts from a radio shack store. You can get everything and anything at radio shack. Try it out, it is cheap and very easy to install. Also you can set it up any way you want. I have my switch on the side of my head near my ear. So I can switch it on really easly and not worry about it.
