Player report, 8/15/04: DM4s Halos and ohh much more

Few of us AO'ers here in the big H went to an indoor place today. For august the weather was extremely nice and I figured there would be a mountian of people out playing, lol. Much to my suprise there were about 10 folks total, including refs. I tested out some new products, new to me, and thought a summary was needed.

    DM4 oh my,
one of the kiddos had a bright shiny, not so much shiny since it was dust, DM4s. After the first game it became aparent that his gun either had some kind of ramp or bounce. There have been very few times that I have heard a gun shoot such a consistant string w/o bounce or some electronic aid. Since we were playing with some nOOBs, I grab the reff and asked him if they would check his gun. I was suprised when the reff told me he would talk to him but didnt think there was a problem and that thier field did not have any rules for said bounce. Like I said there are very few places I have heard a legal 17-18bps string and those were from guys who eat and breeth paintball. Do any of your fields have some kind of bounce check?

    Halo B
I finally bought a halo B. It was fast and rock solid, except the dam lid. Before the first game I load it up and the inner lip of the lid breaks off. You got to be kidding me? 150 bucks for a loader and you cant make a decent lid? I play the rest of the day with electral tape on the top of the lid and a small tab on the loader so I can un-tape mid game and reload.

    Blind Bolt, OTB, BKO
I finally made it to the field with this piece. Prior to instlation I sand down the leading edge of the bolt so it fits properly into the breech. I couldnt chrono over about 200fps. I took it out and replaced it with the stock bolt, like magic it chronoed just fine. The BKO ripped all day with the halo and ZERO chops. I Highly recomend the setup I have if you need something fast and cheap. 04 BKO, CCM norise, Halo, and dynaflow (or a crossfire).

    Just thought I would share...

My field doesn't check for bounce. Use as much paint as you can throw but i think dumping that much paint in a game is pointless.

I saw the exact same thing at one of my fields with a DM4. There's no reason why debounce settings should be adjustable that low. Most fields won't care about that cheap crap unless the owner or ref. gets lit up.

They get more paint sales, so why would they care? but why would you need to shoot that fast in a rec game? I can see a tourney, but not a day of rec ball.
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

during just open play our local field frowns down on it but lets some bounce slide anything major and they stop him... Now when we ahve tourneys there any bounce caught gets that team/guy in major trouble

Manike-It's still early days. One thing for sure is that the future is going to be interesting, and we intend to be a BIG part of it.

Only time anyone around here cares about bounce is in tournies, but its pointless to have a bouncy gun in practice but not tournies.

The blind bolt seems to becoming a disaster for OTB, IMO they should of done WAY more testing and prototyping.

Heh, another punk *** setting their DM4's debounce too low. Some of us have them up to keep our guns from bouncing, Lamers like that ruin it,

Since I'm going to be playing with CDR and Cedar's x-ball field from now on (it's so leet) they can't have bouncy guns, plus they're not pricks and don't need more then 10bps to waste you

Although it's fun showing off a dark viking in simulate with debounce 2 and a victory-board halo... although I never would use that in a game, I'd be out of paint too fast

Private fields run by teams > local fields... on lots of levels...

I get paint for 30 bucks a case now, the only thing I have to do is help tear-down the field (wipe down the bunkers, take out the stakes, defalte them...) Everyone is very cool, helps you out if you need something, Example : my loader died, I asked for a spare, I had 2 revies and an egg that people were going to lend me... Games were fast and honest, we didn't have refs (coachs on each team usually, because it was x-ball) but everyone was just there to have fun, which totally rocked. Nobody plays with bouncy guns, ramping guns, or any of that bull****, because we don't need it nor do we want it to win.

                      Bounce-

Many fields I've been to don't seem to enforce it unless it's real obvious or dangerous looking.I don't understand it either.....but now I know why all the younger kids want to buy one of the 'new' guns. However, watching the panic and despair on them when they get booted at the chrono station trying to get into Tourny....is sometimes worth it. Also later on when they can't shoot 10+bps w/ a legal gun.....can you say mugged?

                      Halo B/Re B-

Yup, been there particularly on the newer ones.Don't know why..... but every chance I get I send in a warranty call for a broken lids and just keep a bunch of them in my bag.

no fields around here care about it. I mean think of how much money they would lose if they made everyone with their precious m98s and A-5s with rt/response triggers go home.

The only thing that i don't like about people using bounce is once they start bouncing on their karnivor or alias all the little kiddies want their autographs because they can shoot super fast!

It really gets under my skin :P

Also another thing i don't like about the local fields is they let everyone chrono their guns with no supervision. Like 8 year olds go up to the chrono station. i don't even think most of them know you can even change the velocity, and the other half think they can turn it up to shoot further.

One of the local fields here rents out A-5s with RT triggers for their advanced rental. Its usually not a problem. I think this gives the kids renting a chance against others with the higher end guns. It wont make them better but they can snap off more shots when coming out of cover then a single one or 2. I think the only time I got lite up bad was one game against my bro when he unloaded on me with his 98c with RT. Now that I have my FragMag coming it should be a whole nother story.

But going along those lines its more a matter of personal control. If you watch what your doing with like a RT trigger you can snap out, launce a 3 shot burst and snap back into cover like me and my bro do or you can sweet spot it and just lite people up(which is why RTs and bouncy guns get such a bad rep.) If you watch how you play everyone has fun but if you go out there to be a dick then people get hurt and the game gets real annoying fast.

I've always disliked a5's since I got blasted in the back from about 10 feet away with a "runaway trigger" popped me a good 7 times in the lower back. It was almost one of those "drop to your knees" moments, was the worst shots i've ever been hit with. After the game I heard the guy talking about how he couldn't get his gun to chrono lower than 320......

then next time we played same guy with same gun shot my friend in the back of his head, who was on his same team. My friend even yelled at him prior to getting shot about how he was shooting at a teamate.

Ouch, one time I got shot in the back by my teammate 2 times and that hurt a lot, I can't even imagine 7.
