I could sure use some thoughts on upgrade parts for my mag

I have a mag I bought used, it is fairly stock I have good barrels, and a revy hopper, expansion chamber. and and bechmark double grip frame. it was chopping every couple of balls. I borrowed a bolt and it solved that problem, so a bolt is first on my list. I am an old guy I just bought it so I could play with My boy. I dont have nintendo fingers and I dont want to invest a ton but I do want a nice marker. Any bolt tips and general help would be greatly appreciated. Sources would also be nice. also foamie or not.

    Thanks

Hmmmm, chopping ehh? It may not actually be the bolt. Is the bolt on your gun the stock bolt or is it aftermarket? If you get a new bolt you may want to wait a little for the delrin bolt. However you may not, seeing how it won't be released for a little while longer. It isn't exactly the most reliable bolt either. I have never had chopping with the AGD long nose extended bolt. It's about $30 shipped from AGD. Call them, their number is at http://www.airgun.com. As far as upgrades. I highly recomend nitrogen. You cna get a NW drop forward with on/off and a crossfire 68cu 3000 psi tank for $160. I consider that a pretty good deal. Co2 is great but nitrogen seems to be the best upgrade. I don't think you'll ever feel the need for a ReTro valve. You may want to look into buying an AGD intelliframe or a DYE 2x frame. They will make the pull alot lighter and it makes it much easier to fire the gun. They are very comfortable as well. I would probably reccomend the Intelliframe but the DYE's are nice except for the fact that they are over priced and you have to install a safety, trigger, and grips. The nice thing abou the intelliframe is that it has no forward play and it comes with DYE grips, an installed Blade or Groove trigger(your choice) and ofcourse an installed safety. You may want to invest in a foregrip if you don't already have one. A foregrip extender is another option. They are really a personal preference thing. Some find it uncomfortable and i myself love it. If you ever got really board with your mag you could always buy a warp feed for about $130 to spice things up. It puts the loader on the side of your gun and feeds faster. Your 12v rev would still be feeding it. There are plenty of great upgrades out there but many of them have some downsides. The warp adds a bit of weight and may be uncomfortable if you're using a foregrip. Can we get the specs of your gun so we can suggest more suitable upgrades?

    So to recap

    1) AGD long nose extended bolt

    2) A nitrogen system, whatever it is. Nitrogen is nitrogen. The regulation isn't all that important seeing how the mag has a built in one.

    3) New grip frame(AGD intelliframe or DYE 2x)

    4) a foregrip or KAPP extender(not needed but are cool)

Taking mags apart is fun, its even more fun when you don't know what you're doing

Does the 3 pronged-center of your bolt protrude past it's outside diameter? If so, you have an old style short bolt. A long nose bolt will help with blowback related feeding issues. Are you short-stroking the trigger? Make sure you pull the trigger all the way back and fully release it when you fire. Shoot slow at first, then build up your speed. It takes a bit getting used to.

You have a 2X trigger, so that should be OK.
Nitro is the single best uprade you can add to your Mag (or any other gun!)

Also consider sending your gun to AGD for a complete tune-up. If you have any stars left on your valve, you can get it done for free, if no stars are left, it's $45. AGD will make sure the trigger rods are properly adjusted, and that everthing else is copasetic (sp?) Also register your gun with them and ask for a maintainence video.

Give 'em hell out there on the field, fellow "old guy" :)

        nitro #1

like they have also mentioned, nitro is a wise upgrade, i consider it to be the most inportant if you run a tourney level gun like an automag, autococker, or any electro. It will help your velocity be consistant and allows you to rapid fire alot and play in cold weather because you dont have to worry about getting liquid gas into the valve, so i would say get a nitrogen system first off, if u wanna go cheap look at a crossfire, aci, or pmi preset tank
        happy hunting :)

Yeah get a cheap nitro tank with a nice drop forward, and all the accessories.

I would consider getting the long nose bolt...it's weird though, I have a non-long one and I never break any paint...I can play all day and not break a ball.

Get a warp feed! If you have the money they are excellent upgrades.

I don't see a need for a double trigger, you already have a Benchy. If your trigger is really long try and put a trigger stop in there to shorten it up a bit.

I had problems with breaking paint in my minimag with the long nosed bolt so i recommend the foamie bolt. Also i would call AGD and ask for a video for your marker, it has helped me diagnose minor problems i had with my marker (when i was new to the minimag) and always have a spare parts kit, tricking it out is always fun but whats the sense in tricking it out if it doesnt work right to begin with.
