I was wondering if you could take the following picture and take the current backround out and put an American flag (the wavy kind) in place of the backround. It's for school, not for a signature.
shartley, can I ask a favor?

rifleman & MikeCouves:
Thank you very much. And the answer to both your questions are pretty much the same... Time and Practice.
The best way to actually TEACH it (I find), is to set up a Lab and have a camera on the Teacher's Screen, and that piped to a large screen TV. This allows all the students to see exactly what is being done by the teacher, and follow along. Then after a couple step by step walkthroughs, the students are given a sample project and the teacher walks around the lab watching each of the students... giving pointers, tips, and suggestions. OR one on one at the student's actual system.. be it at their home or work.
You see, there are often several ways to accomplish the same end results. None are wrong, only those that do not provide the right end result are. And often times the user must do many things to accomplish even the simplest looking effects... that is if they want them to look RIGHT.
You have seen just a small sample of some of my work, and it shows that the styles and results you want CAN be obtained. It also shows that any end style you desire can be created, from photo-realistic, to cartoon, to even hand drawn if need be (or a combination of several). The only limitation is your creativity and using the software to its abilities.
I have already posted a bunch of Tutorial Sites that you Members can use to help learn the software.
And there are MANY more online.
Adobe also provides many great tips and lessons for Photoshop from their Main Site. You can download a copy of Photoshop 6 for trial purposes at their site as well.
I find that the biggest hindrance to people learning to use Photoshop are two things.... The first is that they want everything to be fast and easy. And the other is that they learn to do a bevel and drop shadow and think themselves Masters. As I have said time and again, even those of us who have been using the software for extended periods of time do not know it all, and are always improving our craft and skills. THAT is what will make you a Master.. the desire for perfection and the creativity you use...
And as I have said before, it is not ALL the software, it is the USER as well. So not everyone who picks up a copy of Photoshop will progress to the levels of others, or be able to create magnificent graphics. I wish this was not the case, but such is life. But that is not a horrible thing... we are all different and we excel in different areas of life. Good luck, and as always... HAVE FUN!
Oh, and for God's Sake... you don't have to use every filter or effect at your fingertips in every graphic created. Sometimes less is more... often times the mark of a true professional is knowing when NOT to use something.
udtseal thank you. I am just glad people enjoy the graphics.. THAT is its best reward.Comment
