I want to get some sort of a barrel bag that you can take on field so you can have a fresh barrel. What I had in mind was something that you could strap over your shoulder and it would stay on your back without bouncing. Is there any product like this?

I have a boomstick but when they break, using a squegee doesnt help much because of the step. My extra would be a J&J ceramic

I used a leg holder for a straight shot squeegie. It straps nice and tight to the shin, or you can attach it to a pack that uses suspenders.

Changing the barrel would make your gun chronograph differently.

Because of what Miscue said, most fields would not allow it. And NO tournament would allow it either.

As a hypothetical: What if you had the same barrel? Say, Three boomsticks all with the same bore size?

Whould the gun chrono differently then?

posibly...there is a reaon why the NPPL rules state that you can only have one barrel on the field...

No thats smart. How would you like to be bunkered, and shot 4 times at close range with a gun shooting 450fps. Not fun

                  bad idea

the berrel does change your fps a lot. we caught a kid at the last senario (prolly spelled rong i cant spell) game shooting at 360 fps the reason for this was that he changed his berrel withought recronoing. the field speed here is 285 fps. anyone that would think about changing like that scares me.

Yea, but would you shooting hot if you switched out the barrel for the same barrel.

EX: You break a ball in your 14" .689 bore size Boomstick.
Would the velocity change if you pulled out that barrel and change it with a 14" .689 bore size Boomstick?

Should this be in the Tech Forum?

Let see... call me old fashioned.... but one boomstick plus a good squeegee (a pull through with a swab will clean it out) is a hell of alot cheaper than two boomsticks and a bag to carry it.

IF you are unscrewing and swapping barrels on the field, then you have the time to take 30 min to clean your barrel well enough on the field.

THEORETICALLY - swapping identitcal barrels wone effec velocity - but who is to say that the two barrels are acutally made within exact tolorences to one another...

As others have pointed out - swapping barrels on the field is a good way to cheat...

Technicaly? You should not be any different... but there is always a bit of very wee small difference in two of the same barrels even if you think they are the same bore. But if the manufacturer could hold his tolerances to within a few millionths of an inch then they should be the same. I am not sure they can do that. So better to not chance it. That's why its not allowed to carry two or more. You can stamp them all .689 and one might be .6895 and the next one .6891. Get it? But if they could "garantee" with all certainty that every one they produced was exactly .6890... then there would be no problem and no change. I don't think they can do that.

Tech? Well...yes and no...this is fine though. Tech is for Automag tech related questions only. This is rather general tech question applicable to all markers so its allowed here in main.

I use a squeegie holder on my leg and just shove a extra barrel in there, and put the squeegie in upside down so the plunger thing is up and the barrel dosn't get paint on it. Works for me:)
