A bit of AGD history...About my Classic Valve *PICS* YAY!

I have this Classic valve, and it's differant from anything I've had. The serial number is in the 17000s. Anyway, on to the best part...

Exhibit A...The back of the valve. That nut doesn't appear to be removable. The velocity screw looks slightly smaller than usual but that could just be me. However, the screw only want's to come out to the end of the nut before it stops in it's tracks.

Exhibit B...It also has a screw in powertube. As far as I know, the more recent valves have the powertube held in by a c-clip. I could have that backwards. Any differance between the two methods?

Exhibit C....Is this the stock valve spring? I *think* all the valve springs I've seen have been gold in color and short like this one. I have a few other springs (long grey and red, short black) but I'm pretty sure those are associated with my LVL 10 kit.

That's about all I have to say. I wanted to learn a bit about it and get some more AGD posts going on the AGD owners group site. There's an awful lot of hate going on so I thought it'd be nice to try something differant (as far as I know),

That's just an older style AGD velocity adjuster. It's missing the back cap which was screwed on as a tournament lock.

Your powertube shouldn't be removable. It was laser welded on at one point. It's broken.

The powertubes on new classic valves are laser welded in place. only the Level 5 valves were c-clipped.

Yes, it is a three piece cap but the powertube looks like a level 6 that were laser welded/soldered when upgraded to level 7.

I have a couple Prototype and Level 5 valves.

        What exactly is lazer welding?

I have 2 of those velocity adjusters, but like you, one of them is missing the end cap. I am waiting on a certian someone to send the cap to me...

The powertubes on the new xvalves are screw in, but i havent seen a classic screwin... interesting.

This is a pic of a screw in powertube that has been welded.

From level6 on up, they all had threaded Power Tubes, but as tater pointed out, it should have been welded on. My very first mag was a level 7 where the Power Tube came off, and it never affected performance one bit.

That removable power tube could be a good thing. Start experimenting and build a hypermag!

All you need is spacers to fill the dump chamber and you can experiment to see if you can improve the efficiency by increasing the dump chamber pressure.
