    Barack Obama

It looks like Barack Obama will be running for President in 2008. I am just curious how many people from both sides of the spectrum would vote for him. I am a pretty conservative, but I would definitely consider it. It would depend on the other candidates and where he places himself on certain issues. He seems moderate now, but who knows what he might do to win the nod from the Democratic Party. I think he could win by himself, but he may "play politics" some. Post any opinions here, but please do try to be civil and not get this thread deleted.

so far all he has done is say what people want to hear. ill wait and see how he stands on certain issues. so far just about all the past presidents have said one thing and done another i hope in this election we get a president who will stand by his convictions and not go with his fellow polititions even if it doesnt make him/her very welcomed. well just have to wait and see.

Although I think he's got a great message going; his voting record is generally regarded as Far Left.

        Howard Dean...

Embraced early, but as more and more is found out he is going to become less and less the overwhelming favorite

he is very charismatic and intelligent
but doesn't have a lot of experience, which could be a major downside when picking up swing votes

personally, i like him a lot, he's got some really good ideas and he could do a lot of good for this country

            From the article:

In 1996, he was elected to the Illinois state Senate, where he earned a reputation as a consensus-building Democrat who was strongly liberal on social and economic issues, backing gay rights, abortion rights, gun control, universal health care and tax breaks for the poor.

Hey grEnAlEins, if you consider yourself conservative, why would you vote for him? Hell, even if you areent, why would you vote for him? What are his accomplishments? What does he stand for?

This guy is an early favorite just because he hasnt really done ANYTHING to piss off anyone. Like Loman said, the more he opens his mouth, the more people wont like him - just like most liberals.

Quite frankly, i dont even know who I like at this point. I am ultra conservative... so none of these clowns are very appealing.

I think a lot of the left are doing this whole, "As long as I don't say anything to piss someone off it'll help me more." I donno where I stand anymore, there is never anyone that fits into the category of what I exactly believe but I and probably everyone else would respect these politicians more if they said what their plans were what they believe in and then acted on that. Instead of playing the quiet game so they can get in for atleast one term and try to get what they want done.

I don't think that's is a good comparison. There's way more buzz about Obama then there ever was about Dean

I do consider myself conservative, but note this does not always mean republican. I am not saying I would vote for him, I am saying that I would consider it depending on his opposition. Though I do not like his attitudes on social welfare or gun control, I do agree with him on a few issues, or it seems that way from how he voted in the Congress of Illinois (where I'm from). Like I said though, when people run for national office their attitudes and stances may change. It depends on where he comes down on social and economic policy as well as national security (especially at dealing with border/customs and their affairs). He has not said or done much in the way of nation stuff, but in fairness to him, he is a freshman senator. I am saying that I will watch his campaign closely and see where he stands on the issues that he has been quiet about. If he does not present his ideas, I will obviously vote for someone else. It really depends on his stances I guess. Like I said though, I am not thrilled with his gun control policies though... so I really do not know. My mind is certainly not made up, I am just saying I am giving the man my attention and considering giving him my vote.

He could very well be the next president. At this point, many are saying his inexperience may be an asset in some ways. I saw him speak at the DNC in Boston and was floored. If you haven't watched it, find it on You Tube.
