    Stell tanks don't have to be hydroed?

    ok i don't believe this but i have been told this before. I'm 99% sure that it isn't sure but can someone post what they know to give me that extra 1%. This is an exact quote that some one sent me in regards to a steel tank.

    its a 3000 no hydro date b/c its steel

    i know a lot of people here use nitro, i am just getting into it. just post to reasure me that this person has his facts wrong. thanks

      they need to be hydroed every 5 years instead of the 3 for fiberwrapped.

        They have to be hydroed just like a SCUBA tank. Every 5 years like Wyn said. Also, fiber wraped tanks are only good for two hydros while steel are good untill they fail a hydro. This could be 10 years or it could be 30 years. I had a steel SCUBA tank from the early 60's that lasted until a few months ago.

          Tramp - actually Fiber tanks have a life of 15 years or 3 or 4 hydro test. Not just 2. And there are some new specs in teh works for paintball fiber tanks because they are not used in the same way the othe rfiber tank are and see a lot less stress ( fires, impacts, fewer fills [in theroy this is one that I think that are mistaken on ] and typically are better taken care of.


          There is a lot going on in the DOT and HPA are for Paintball based tanks.

            Heck co2 tanks need to be hydroed too. Every 5 years. Yes, you have to hydro that steel tank.

              co2 tanks under 2 inches in diameter are good for life though
