    How to at home anno?

    Hey guys,

I have been searching for this answer for the last 30 minutes and can't find it.

    Here is my question.

How do I anno a piece of raw aluminum?

Just 1 color. Not even a whole piece. Just a few areas.

    Any help would be great.

There are kits on Ebay and on the web....

If you want it done right, send it to a pro.
Due to the objections of a certain Canadian, this space is now for rent.

Just a few areas? That might prove difficult. Anodizing isn't a paint, you run an electric current through a bucket of acid with your aluminum part in it. This changes the surface to the harder, more brittle, less dense, and porous form of aluminum oxide. You fill the pores with dye and seal it in. I don't know any details, that's just what I've gathered from various websites. I may be wrong.

The home setup isn't something that can be done overnight and it really is something that needs to be setup and ran and learned over time. I don't think it'd be worth it to go through the hassle of it all for just 1 or 2 small pieces. I think you'd be cheaper in the end just to send it to someone who could toss it in the mix with some other peoples parts...

There is an Anno handbook that is pretty good and an anno forum thing that is full of folks in the know. I have the book... but it's back east... otherwise I'd let ya borrow it..

            Thanks for all the answers.

I obviously know nothing about the process.

I guess my time would have been better spent searching porn sites

I'll just have to settle for a sharpie

The anodizing portion of PbNation doesn't seem to be that much of a cesspool. You could try it out.
