The 5 year tanks are a 4500 Carbon Fiber wrapped tanks and they come from Carlton Tech, SCI, Luxford and a few others. I dont hvae the exemption # handy but there are no 5 year 3k tanks that I know of.

Considering that I hydroed over 260 tanks last year I am fairly up on spec.

It would be DOT# 10915-3000, if it where a 5 year hydro date on the tank.

The Nitroducks are a heck of a tank, good choice.

I believe whatever the tank is stamped is what you go buy. Luxifer, has numerous series of tanks, some rated at 3 others at 5. Whats printed on the tank is what you should go by.

Not entirely. You go by that exemption number if you have it. There were some tanks with that exemption number stamped three years date on them before the exemption occured and it was retroactive on those. Now all new ones of those will show five years but a few of them will not from back when like a year or so ago. Look at that exemption number as well. The one pito189 gave you looks right to me.

            http://hazmat.dot.gov/exemptions_index.htm

Handy little website to remember :)

The exemption sheet says 3 years. So you don't have a 5 year tank.

I have a Nitroduck Tuff skin tank(4500) and on the tank it says must re-hydro every 3 years. But i was told when ordering the tank it was a 5 year hydro. So i called the guy and he said my DOT number said it was a 5 year. But i dont trust him... Can someone here verify for me? DOT-E 10915-4500

                Nice link Thordic!

                For 10915...

Says any retested after May 11 2001 the 5 year applied no matter what its marked. Those retested before that date are still subject to the 3 year. So that is either the retested date or even the manufacturing date where it cuts off.

Well yes it sounds like it if the manufacuturing date matches...

I know there's already a few links for re-hydro information, but here's on that I use pretty frequently.
