    Questions on air types

Nitro/Nitrogen/Compressed Air-- are these all the same thing just with different names if not whats best and most used. Also, what do you have to do to use these types of propellent with a mag? I have no idea of how to use this stuff. Im afraid to touch it, I guess cuase I see those pictures of blown tanks(ouch). Kinda looks dangerous. Do you just screw it on your gun and go, or is there a different procedure for putting on and taking off a tank with Nitro/Nitrogen/Compressed Air in it? Dumb questions I know, but I really have no idea on this stuff.

"are these all the same thing " yes
"what do you have to do to use these types of propellent with a mag?" most are ready to use in a mag and the mag would actually run better w/ them than Co2
"Do you just screw it on your gun and go, or is there a different procedure for putting on and taking off a tank with Nitro/Nitrogen/Compressed Air in it? " Depends on whether you have a screw in tank or not. Screw in's screw in just like Co2 tanks, other tanks are hooked up with macroline or SS braided hose, usually w/ a quick disconnect also. Your next ? will probably be about regulation. Screw in tanks are preset and the output is usually around 800psi or 450psi, 2 different styles. Adjustable tanks are available also which let you adjust how much pressure comes out from around 150 to 1000 psi, but not on the same tank w/out changing the internals. Hope that helped?!

well Nitro/Nitrogen and Compressed Air aren't -quite- exactly the same, but the difference really isnt worth talking about. (all of which are referred to as HPA which stands for 'High Pressure Air')

Nitro/Nitrogen is just that, I believe its N2 on the table of elements. Nitro/Nitrogen tends to be concentrated N2. where as Compressed Air is just air your breathing now compressed, though, air consists of like 90% Nigrogen so its really all practically the same.

Most people use Compressed Air as its rather easy to get, which you can do so from a local Scuba shop.

'Mags should be ready to rock with HPA and you should be able to just screw in the tank or turn the valve on (depending on what sort of tank you have).

As long as you take good care of your tank, and have it regularily hydrostatically tested (aka Hydro Tested) its perfectly safe. Its also highly reccomended you keep your tanks protected with a Neoprene tank cover, gives it that little bit of cushoning if its bumped, and protects the fiber wrapping if you have a fiber wrapped tank. with the proper safety precautions, having tanks explode is a very rare occurence. as far as I can tell, in the paintball world, having a tank burst has only happend a handful or two of times, which is rather slim considering how many HPA tanks are out there.

I personally reccomend an adjustable tank, but it'll run you a bit more usually, it just nice to have the flexibility to be able to adjust the output pressure. If you should decide on a preset tank, 'mags tend to like an input pressure around 800PSI.

I hope this helps some, and good luck on your decision. HPA is arguably the best upgrade for any marker.

They are diffrent gasses(nitrogen & nitro same but diffrent than compressed air) but use the same tanks and act the same in your gun. If you buy a screw in tank thats all you do, screw it in. If you take care of your tank and have it tested when needed they are very relibale and safe.

The two types of HPA only differ very slightly. Nitro/Nitrogen is 'pure' N2, where as Compressed Air is just air under pressure. (same 'air' that scuba tanks are filled with and that you breathe) and consists of about 80% N2. so theres only really like a 20% diffrence between Nitrogen/Nitro and Compressed Air. :)
