Im starting a feild give me some suggestions?

I have been playing nearly a year now I just want some suggestions for a feild im planning on building in the near future.

I just want some info from other players on what they would like to see to make my field a great field.

    1. What would be a cool name for the field
    2. What kind of fields should I do
Im planning on: speedball, hyperball, rec ball, give me some ideas on what you would liek to see.
    3. What Rentals would be cool, remmember nothing to pretty lol or expensive, and what type of masks. + something in a fair price range hehe.
    4. Should I have nitro, hpa, and co2 tanks?
    5. Should I have scenario games at my field with like special missions and stuff?

    Give me your suggestions,
    Im in Canada, Ont.

If anyone is interested in helping out with the field let me know.
i.e., reffing, helping liek pay for the stuff, half owner of the field etc.
email me or post a message here, let me know guys what would be cool, Tom lol if you have any suggestions it would help 2 hehe.

Do you know how much it is to start a field? You have to buy paintball insurance, a zoning license all that stuff. Plus supair and hyperball fields cost thousands of dollars.

But if you do, automags are the best rentals, use co2 but have HPA for refills, try to have tourneys, and speedball fields are cool.

First of all, where is this field goin to be?

      Names... ummm.... I dont know

Fields... I like Hyper and Speed the most. Maybe you could have one woods field. I would like to see a field with about 2 or 3 Hypers 2 or 3 Speeds, and maybe 1 or 2 woods.

If you have big fields, and no netting, you could combine them all to make a huge scenario game.

Definatly HPA, Nitro and co2. Most newer players use co2, that is a must. And at my local field, they fill the nitro bottles with half compressed air, and half nitro. That is what its suposed to be, so HPA and Nitro are a must for higher level players.

For rentals, I would like to see well kept guns, maybe a mixture, like spyder compacts and some tippmanns or sumthin. That way if one player likes the "double tube" spyder design and the other likes the "single tube" tippmann, they can both have what they want.

For masks, I get tired of seeing the old X-fires. I think some 32 degrees head cases or the walmart JT's would be good. THey look okay, and are good protection.

Also, if you have the money, I think that those body armor things would be really good for a unconfident newbee to wear. Shin Gaurds would also be awesome to rent.

Also, you should have some extra nitro and co2 bottles to rent, in case some1's tank was messed up or forgotten.

One last thing, I think a kool idea would be to have a lot of cheap jerseys, like cheap 32 degrees or sumthin. If you got them in two differant colors, like red and blue, it would be a lot easier than armbands and such.

national paintball has a starter kit for fields. You may want to look into it...
But be warned a paintball field is not something you just *decide* to do in one night. It takes some serious thought and planning and some serious cash

I had a long post here on business issues. They however seemed WAY out of place with the other "feel good" answers posted. They were also things that might have caused people to FLAME me out of their ignorance. This would not have been a good thing, and would have been counter productive.

So, I took it off and only offer this advice instead....

          Enjoy the game!

But if you are serious about this thing, contact a business consultant... you need one. And you can take THAT advice to the bank.

If you have the money i would suggest a 10 man sup air ball field, and a hyper ball field, 1 wood field and speedball course and a mound course. Or if u have a lot of money make another challenge park.

Ok, go to memphispaintball.com and look at thier setup.... then copy it. I have played at just about 20 different fields, and they are by far the best. We play there four times a year and i drive 4 hours to get there.
1)they have all air fills, but their rental guns all get nitro tanks.
                    2) they run paintball camps in the summer for kids.
                    3) they have a pro shop with a snack bar, which actually makes most of the money.

Call a good field owner like John in Memphis and ask him what his keys to success were. He will tell you flat out. Never go cheap on equipment, if your first time players can't see out of thier masks because of fog, they wont come back. If thier gun sucks, they wont come back. IF they get blistered by your field team, they wont come back.
                    see the trend?
Keep your first time players happy, and they become your regulars.

                      AGDrules,
Having studied extensively on opening a field
it can be done at a resonable cost but it is a lot of work. Remember that while you own the field you are working not playing. Make sure you really want to do that. If so go here:

It is by far the internets best resource for starting a field.
I will avoid the long business lecture like Shartly but just make sure you are sure before you make a mess and spend the money to do things right the first time.
                      Good luck,

I was looking into a field a few years ago. Looking into it, I was going to use Tipps for rentals, and a few Mags for an additional charge. The tipps are highly reliable, and the model 98's are pretty easy to troubleshoot and repair.

I looked into CO2, and Nitro. Using tanks from BOC Gases, the CO2 is relatively inexpensive, but have a high quality digital scale to weigh, and as far as nitro, tanks are fine, but now, you can get 4500psi from a 2500psi tank using a cascade compressor.

I love speedball, but what does the area call for, cost effectiveness would be to set up mostly woods fields, which are cheap to build, but as for speedball, setup a hyperfield, you dont need to order the tubing from these paintball companies, you will find the same corrugated piping at a local lumber yard, like 84 Lumber, for alot less than you would pay for it through a paintball distributor.

My fields use younger highschool kids as refs, paying them under the table, and giving them the benefits like free play, and air fills.

Natioanl Paintball really helps you out, the owner Gino, is a really great guy, I have dealt with him before.

                        hope this helps.

I also assume you already know about commercial zoning, insurance, twp ordinance laws, and the difficulty of getting this type of business license since paintball has such a bad image, it was too difficult to get a committee approval.

                          1. What would be a cool name for the field
                          2. What kind of fields should I do
-my favorite fields are the forts and towns. there was this awesome village at this field I went to once up in newhampshire. it had a bunch of plywood houses (4 walls, lotsa doors). could be a bit of work, but it was awesome.
                          3. What Rentals would be cool, remmember nothing to pretty lol or expensive, and what type of masks. + something in a fair pricerange hehe.
-go with pirhanas. they are what a lot of fields use because they are cheap and easy to maintain. I'd set them up with vertical bottles, dunno why... if you don't like the whole spyder thing, tippmanns are tanks so they would be good. as for masks, you should have some thermals that would be a bit more to rent. I'd say get x-fire masks (mono lense) and then the spectras could be your thermals.
                          4. Should I have nitro, hpa, and co2 tanks?
-as for hpa, you def need to be able to fill them, but as for renting, I think just co2 is fine, especialy if you run vert pirhanas.
                          5. Should I have scenario games at my field with like special missions and stuff?
-have a big game every once in a while. they are always fun.

i just have two things to add.

At my field the refs are "paid" on a points system, they do not pay green fees or for air and they then redeam points for paint.

Also, be aware that owning a field and doing it right takes up a lot of your time. right now the owner of my field has one foot in divorce court because he has to spend every weekend at the field and not with his wife and kids.
