Nubbin problems/bur in breach area of barrel

Help please. I have had tons of nubbin problems culminating with a big bur on the inside of my lapco bigshot(my alltime favorite barrel).I have broken 6 nubbins in only three weeks of play with my warp feed and emag. When I adjust the nubbin too far out I get double feeds. When I adjust it in then I get broken nubbins and lastly a nubbin that got bent in and gouged the inside of my barrel. Now I know that things need adjustment but this is getting to be ridiculous. I have to buy more nubbins or parts kits or whatever because I am out of nubbins. So here are my questions:

    1. What depth should the nubbin be in the barrel? and don't tell me a match book, because they vary in thickness from front to back etc.

    2. Is my barrel ruined, is there a test I can do to check it, and if it is repairable how should I fix it.

    3. I know some of you have had this happen before, and what did you do with your barrels afterwards.

    Thanks everyone.

    Thanks soo much.

Someone please give me a spec(inches ,millimeters..) on the distance the nubbin should stick out. Thanks.

How's the paint fit with your Lapco? Make sure that the paint you are using is not too small for the barrel. You will get double feeds with a large bore barrel and small paint no matter how much you adjust the nubbin. To be honest, in all my years of playing I've never had a P nubbin break on me. I did however have one V nubbin break, but the reason for that is that it wears more than the P style nubbin. AGD started making the P nubbins because they have more surface area that the bolt slides over and wear less than the point on the V nubbins. Just make sure you are using paint that fits the bore of your barrel.

I've had similar problems like this. The first thing to do, if you have the P-nubbin, is to ditch it and order V-style nubbins from AGD, or make sure a new parts kit has them. That will probably cure the problem. If it does'nt, you need to round over the edge of your bolt to keep it from grabbing the nubbin and shoving it down the barrel. The easiest way to do this is to buy some fine grit wet-dry sandpaper, about 800 grit. Take the sandpaper and put it into the palm of your hand and make a cup, then take your bolt and rotate it around in the cup of sandpaper so you are sanding the edge off. Do this while holding it under a faucet so you can sand wet. What you are doing is putting a small radius on the outside bolt edge. If you do this for about 1 1/2 minutes it will be about perfect.
As for the burr in your barrel, go get a cheap jewelers file with a slight curve to it from the hardware store. Carefully file the burr away from the slot. Just hold the barrel up to the light to see if the burr is gone. don't go nuts with the file, just go slow. Because you are filing in the breach area, you will have zero effect on your accuracy, so dont worry about it.
        Hope this helps.

I too have had a probelm with the P-style nubbins but ONLY in my Freak. I can't shoot the Freak for more than 100 balls without bending in a p-nubbin. other than that. I have had equal success with both style nubbins.
The 1 thing I like the most about the P-nubbin is that if it were to break (not bend in) you wouldn't slice your paint as it leaves the barrel like the V nubbin that leaves a nasty point inside the breach when broken.

I was shooting PMI with the new shell. I think that it fit OK.
