If it was a fade, I beleve that is the normal price.
You really only have a couple choices 1) get on the preorder list and wait 2) find a used one on one of the message board for sale forums 3) get lucky enough to find a new one somewhere.
I personally used the third one. Funny thing is that the shop was located where? Spokane, Washington! Isn't that funny? :)2003 SuperBowl Champions!, THE New England Patriots!
