I know I read a post awhile back about someone asking if they could spray paint their mag body. Well here's the skinny on that. I recently dusted off my old mag after a couple of years with no paintball. My usual group of friends that played started moving away one by one for school, work, ect. but I digress. I wanted to give my mag a fresh new look, but really didn't want to spend a bunch of money on cosmetics. Yes, cosmetics, that's what it is, it really doesn't make your gun shoot better does it? I appreciate cool custom anno as much as the next guy, but I guess I'm just too frugal to spend hard earned cash on it. Anyway, this is what I did. I have access to a bead blaster at work, so I took all the parts I wanted to color match and sealed any holes, threads, or spots where I didn't want to mess with tolerances with pipe fitting plugs and tape. (Hint: if you plan on using tape to cover thing you don't want to blast, use electrical tape, as masking tape will simply blast off) After blasting, I wiped down the parts with acetone to degrease them. (Acetone is available at any paint store) So I go to menard's and find a can of Rust Oleum Professional High Preformance Enamel for about 4$ I bring this home and once again cover any places I don't want coated and applied nice even light coats to all the parts. I only had runs on the bottom line so I blasted it and did it again. It turned out much better than I expected. It's a durable, fairly scratch resistant, water resistant coating. So there you have it. I'm real happy with the results and I saved a bunch of cash that I can spend on paint to shoot out of my fresh new looking mag! Pics attachd below. Feel free to comment.
