Mr. Kaye,
I am the secretary and treasurer of the Marquette University paintball team, and we are hoping to have a school wide open this coming fall (Sept. 27th). MU has an undergraduate student body of approximately 10,000, most of whom would otherwise never be introduced to paintball. The event will mainly be to raise campus awareness of paintball and the team. The tournament would be open to any MU student, and we hope to keep the cost to less than $10 per student. Ideally, their $10 would cover rental and unlimited paint. We ARE limiting this to a hopper ball event, so paint should not be wasted too much. After an opening round-robin or a double elimination (depending on the number of teams that sign up), we would probably switch to a single elimination format for the finals.
So far, we have permission from the school to play on the greens in front of the union. This should maximize the number of people who see the event. We would post fliers throughout the droms and univeristy buildings to raise awareness and have people sign up for it. Also, Sept. 27th is a school visitation day, so we hope to expand the exposure that way as well. Other than that, we lack the airball field, safety nets, paint, and rental equipment, although we are currently working on these deficiencies.
We were wondering if you had any ideas or could offer any help. We are located in Milwaukee WI, so we are quite close to you. We would be glad to have a representative of AGD there. This is a huge opportunity to expose many students to paintball, and we thought you might like to use this opportunity.
Thank you for your time.
