I tried it, but didn't really like it. It's cool at first, but limits the use of the desktop and such. To truly customize it you have to assume and learn a bit about how to change the configuration files for certain themes and stuff [but most of it is text-based and easily editable in notepad once you understand the structure and way Litestep is operated, which doesn't take long.] I haven't had any problems with it, and explorer is restorable in a few steps. http://64.65.12.73/litestep/ seems to be the easiest to obtain it from (auto-installer and all), and has a few resources to help you out.

http://64.65.12.73/litestep/faq.html answers most of your questions here.

I installed it, and now its so horrible, I need to take it off! Not simple either, coming from someone who knows "enough" about computers. It seems to disrupt many programs. No me gusta..

It works great ONCE YOU GET IT SET UP. Extreme emphasis intended. It can be a real pain the the rear escape hatch to get running correctly.

By the way, irbodden, it shouldn't conflict with any programs once you get it set up. Its just a GUI, not an OS :-)

You can break your entire system if you install it improperly, IE: you can set it up in such a way that it completely breaks your shell and you have to reinstall. I did this on the weekend, got it working after the reinstall and rather like it.

can someone tell me how to change the background? im using the skin chaos, and i put the pic i want in the bg directory, but the wallpaper changer thing at the top wont go to it, so is there a way i could do it manually?

Actually, mykroft, all you should have to do is edit system.ini to fix that kind of problem. I don't see how you should have to reinstall windows...
