For tinkerers eyes only

In a few weeks, I'll be showing off my latest, and one of my last guns. I hoped to have the website updated, but that looks like it'll be on hold for a while. Anyway, for those of us who like to mess around with metal, I'm going to exhibit some new ideas and technique that I'm sure will be of interest for some of you.
Not much is revealed right now, but soon I'll be posting stuff that hasn't been seen before when it comes to gun customization.
The gun itself has few features that are new, but when it comes together you might see a mod or two that make sense in fine tuning the mag.
For now, the focus is going to be on laser micro welding, something that will allow me to make a piece look like I've always wanted to. I wish I could do this full time because I have so many different ideas. As it is, it's still just a hobby that I can only devote so much time to, and that's why this is probably the last gun I will show. (I simply don't see the E-Mag ever being completed.)
I don't care for publicity, I'm sharing this for one reason. My hope is that you guys can find a future use for what is possible. I will get into it more as we go along.

Dan that is amazing work there and although I'm sure it will look even better when welded I think it is very cool that the pieces can be taken apart at this point but flow so well when put together with the screws. :cheers:

Its sad to hear this is one of the last, to me your guns are like the solar cockers- amazing pieces of art in their own right. Wish I could afford to get my hands on one.

holy crap i didnt think the bar could be raised but u did and blew it out of the water!! now if one wanted could u leave it in pieces that way u can replace like the sear? and the milling on that is just so sick its un real!!!! and it goes together so perfectly!! i am interested in the process there is a mag i always wanted to build!!! tell us more when u can!!!

Oh wait nvrmnd at this point you wouldn't need to take those pc's apart. If the body and valve remain separate than you can still change or adjust the sear, and all of your builds are mechanical right?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments, but the best is still to come. It's really turning into my personal favorite because of the shape. Once the parts are welded, its going to be perfect. I'm making a big push to finish it now so let's hope it will all work out soon.
With the rail and grip welded together, there is no problem with exchanging the sear...it plops right out.
For those who wondered how it gets done, I do have some how to videos in my portfolio where I make a trigger. The process is pretty much the same.
Alright, back to the workshop...it's going to be a long night.

Aaaaaaargh! I was up until four in the morning and there was no holding me back. In the midst of battle, I overheated and fried the handpiece on my cutting tool. I can't continue without it!!!
This is hell.
I'll be ordering a new piece today which will take at least a week to get here. Things will be delayed here as a result.
I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to get you guys all hot and bothered and then leave you hanging. I promise to finish this as soon as I can.

Oh boy. I did it now. I made some cuts and changes that have totally destroyed this design. I went from loving it to hating it in the last 48 hours. I'm not sure whether I can continue like this. It's really bothering me.
This will be the last I mention of this gun. If it ever gets released, you'll know. If it doesn't, then it'll be covered in dust and cobwebs for good. I guess this is what I get for showing stuff before it's finished.
I will do a small video on the laser welding concept to show what this was originally supposed to.

Dan- Sorry to hear you are hitting a few snags with this build. It's only metal right?

Take a look at this thread on pbnation http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...2#post77163322 It looks like your techniques are stlll inspiring people to try stuff out of the box.

I tried this on a PMR and discovered it is hard to keep things symmetrical, very hard. It turned out pretty good however I kept it pretty simple for my first attempt. Maybe some day I will have the time again to try something again. But it would be almost impossible to top what the hog has already done. :)

Bunny, your perspective is refreshing. It's true, but I've never had this happen on this scale and it's frustrating. It's been off and on for four years with this project. Easily 700 hours invested, and then at the end, in the middle of the action, make a decision that alters everything. I'm certain I will continue, but I'm not sure yet when or how.
I will still make a video of the laser welding as promised, using something else as a platform. It's really interesting stuff, and would actually have been ideal for repairing the little ding on your battery pack.

It's really my hope that some of custom shops look into it as a viable option for construction and repair. It is amazing what you can do. If I were still in the states.......grrrrrrr, I'd be opening up shop.

obviously you are the expert madhog... but is it something you could repair using the micro-weld tech? Just how much did you change it? I would hate to see you abandon this... i can only imagine one of your "screw ups" would still be cooler than anything i could make!
