Band of Brothers
I was just wondering what everyone thought about the HBO series Band of Brothers.
I personally thought it was the best series I have ever seen im my entire life. |
It was definitely an awesome series...
HBO is upping the standards of television in leaps and bounds. Sopranos, Six Feet Under, now Band of Brothers. They are putting out simply amazing series. |
I only saw one episode of Band of Brothers and I have to admit it was awsome. It was action packed and yet it still made sense, by that I mean it wasn't just action blood and gore, it actually had a story line to it too.
|
I just got through watching the final episode... FANTASTIC Series! I am sure they will run it again.... so any of you that missed it GET READY!
My only complaint... should be an actual full series! I would watch it as long as they kept making it. |
Im currently on Episode 4, dont have time to finish it though, hopefully soon.
Band of Brothers is what actually made me get back into paintball - True story. |
It's great to see programs that accurately depict WWII era combat. I love Saving Private Ryan, and Band of Brothers is just as good. I haven't been able to see all of them (no HBO at college) but my dad watches them. There are so many lessons that can be learned from WWII, and this kind of program is great at raising awareness and interest. The only negative byproduct of realistic combat is that after SPR came out the attendance and applications to all military academies (not just West Point) shot down. Hopefully we'll never see such a large scale war again, but for now, we don't fight fair so it's not an issue.
Anyway, for those of you who don't know, Band of Brothers is a book. 2, actually. One about the Army from WWII and one about the Air Force in Vietnam. A more modern book, Black Hawk Down, will be out as a movie on 18JAN01. It's about the Task Force Ranger's action in Somalia. Great story. My thoughts in a word...HOOAH! (It's an Army thing) www.sony.com/blackhawkdown |
it blows away any other series on the air. i misses 2 episodes though :(
|
just got done watching the last episode....
Well i've seen 2 of them now.:D I want the series on video for Christmas, if they make them.
|
LOVED the series!!!
The only problem was waiting till Sunday to see a new one For those of you who missed - HBO will replay it, and they are planning to release the whole series on DVD - you can bet I'll be 1st inline!!! |

NO. you'll be second in line... right behind me:D |
HA Got you all beat. Had a kid at the field yesterday who has the whole series minus episode 10 which he captured last night if all went well. Ran out of cash, was talking about the series. Made him a deal gave him some paint and he's burning me all ten episodes for pickup tomorrow.
It is absolutely the best series on the bond that men in combat have. Be sure to watch the true story of easy company on Nov 11 on HBO, as told by the actual surviving members of easy. |
DARN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats man. I guess I'll just have to wait till it comes out on DVD. |
Yeah Band of Brothers is great but I had to go through the fist 4 episodes to realize how good it was. Good ol Carantan. It is amazing and I love the introduction to it. Anyone seen G-string diva's lately:)? I've missed the last couple episodes. The Sopranos are great.....I believe this weekends episode was the one where uncle Ju goes to prison and they off Mikey.
|
I watched all ten episodes and only once missed but a minute of one. The whole series was incredible, but not as good as Saving Private Ryan. All of the actors were good and the action was great, especially in the first few episodes. I am disheartened that it is over because it was what made Sunday night or, "the homework night," a decent night of the week. We will buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD.
|
I'm hoping that they release the series on DVD, so everyone with basic cable (like me) can experience it.
|
i loved it....except when they fount the concentration camp...they shuld have had a nazi-guard massacre....

easy company
I think I read somewhere that some major pro paintball team used to be called easy company...
...that guy Lt. Spears was freakin' crazy. |
I didn't get to see it...:(
Wanna know an even better series? POKEMON! IT'S THE BEST TV SERIES IN THE WORLD! :D :D ::I hope you can see my sarcasm...:: |
Lt. Spears was the coolest character :)
You didn't know whether to love him or hate him. He was an awesome leader, but he was also a total bastard at times. I loved the part where he runs... well, no, some people didn't see the series yet. But you people who saw it know what I mean!!! |

[B]Lt. Spears was the coolest character :) ^^^^^ Dude They were not Characters. None of em. This is a true story. All the events and people are real. You can see more on the men of Easy Company on Sunday Night on HBO where they interview and talk to actual members :) |
It was based on a true story, yes, but in the show, they were characters. If it had been the REAL Lt. Spears running his little 80+ year old butt off around germany, then they wouldn't be characters. But since it was an actor playing Lt. Spears, its a character.
Also, anything like this a dramatization. Its based on what happened, but anyone who assumes it is a 100% unerring recreation of events exactly as they happened is fooling himself. Scripts are still written, writers still have an influence, and there is ALWAYS some sort of "poetic license" involved. It is not reality TV (Which one could argue isn't 100% real either :) ) |
