Is this Forum Based in Germany?

Well, I was just kind of checking out the times when someone last posted to one of my threads and I noticed that the time is 9 hours ahead. Now, from California it is 8 hours to London, UK (I know this cuz that is where I was stationed while in Military).

Germany is one hour ahead of London.

Just thought I would bring up and error (if this is an error?), so someone could fix.

HoppysMag 05-01-2003 08:47 PM

um... i dont think its in germany

headcase 05-01-2003 09:02 PM

The time is based on the setting in your profile.

Go to "user CP" "Edit options" And near the bottom you can change the time zone you are in.

Funny thing is my timezone is correct, but it still displays an hour ahead.

Maybe it didn't account for daylight savings?

to quote a great mans speach in german " i am a jelly donut";) tell me who said it now?

banzaimf 05-02-2003 02:31 PM

GMT is not dependent on DST. I believe that the diff might be accounted by that.

Homer Simpson?

HoppysMag 05-02-2003 02:55 PM

"Ich bin ein Berliner" - JFK. translated to "i am a jelly donut" berliner is a kind of pastry like a jelly donut... or so i am told.

BlackHalo 05-02-2003 03:37 PM

The only german I know

Ich habe kein hose an

I don't even know if it's spelled right.

bornl33t 05-02-2003 04:46 PM

Berlin in a city in germany.
Berliner, is a donut type treat with it's own name knida like long johns, that's derives it's name from the city in which it was supposedly invented.
Berliner is a resident of Berlin.

In other words...it's up to interpretation. But it CAN mean "I'm a donut" no word of jelly

BlackHalo-that's spelled right... congrats YOu passed german class...

PolishSausage 05-02-2003 05:24 PM

Warum ist dieses forum nicht in Deutschland basiert, scheint es Sie wird verwechselt

The first part is almost right the second has 2 pronouns next to each other, so I'm not sure what your trying to say?> Something about they seeming to be mixed up?

davidb 05-02-2003 06:17 PM

OMFG :D ;)

Maghog 05-04-2003 05:05 AM

Ein Berliner hat immer etwas Marmelade, sonst ist es kein Berliner.
Translation: A Berliner is not a Berliner if it doesn't have jelly, it would then be called something else.
It's a tough phrase, technically and grammatically, it's correct, but it just so happens that being a "resident of Berlin" (which is what JFK was really trying to say) can be construed in a different context and subsequently associate you with a jelly pastry.
They do taste very good by the way.
Auf wiedersehen!

The difference is that if your from a city you just say the city's name and add er (masc) or erin (fem). What makes the statment say that he's a donut is that he put the "ein" in front of it. Basically he should have said: "Ich bin Berliner" And that's the story according to my evil german prof.

Manuel_FZR 05-04-2003 11:09 AM

Hello Heat!!! In a thread like this, I can´t miss ;) ... are you still sometimes on AIM? Long time ago, that I heard of you ... ;)

Na, da sind aber ein paar Bekannte unterwegs ... hallo miip, hallo schneipa!

@vf-xx: You can say both ... with or without "ein" ;)

bornl33t 05-04-2003 12:48 PM

MANU!!! wazaaaaaaaaaap? Hey I got rid of AIM, too many ppl I dind't wanna talk to anymore. YOu can get me on ICQ if ya got that..

Manuel is right it both with and without "ein" is correct. He would know STILL lives in Germany :D

Ich bin allerweil noch der Meinung des ish a Krapfn!!!!!!!!
