Thread: Smaller automag?

    Smaller automag?

I love how compact automags are, but what about the over hang the valve makes? Are there any new inventions in the future that could shorten this length?

heres what you *could* do with a classic mag, take off the whole back reg, and make a cap that screws on it, then use an inline reg, and cut down the body rail. Some person has already done this...

You could machine a back half that was basically a set screw to the back of the valve, and run an inline regulator and chop off the back of the rail I guess... thats about all I think

    i saw that too!

he machined a complete front half of the valve, and then attached the SS powertube setup to that, and it was completely flush with the back of his micromag, with matching milling

and then he ran an inline reg to adjust the pressure and whatnot

only an inch or so shorter though...

    I have to agree...

Aside from being custom for custom's sake, what would be the point?

How many times in a game have you said "Man, if it wasn't for that 2 inches of valve behind the gripframe, we would have won!"

Back when this was actually being done, the person that I remember doing this just used an aluminum back with an inline reg, the point then was for some weight savings. Now there really would be no point.

Im the "one" who made the mag valve plate..
dont confuse it with the 100% scratch-built aluminum valve, which didnt have the back half either.

I sold the backplate, but still have the aluminum short valve.

website is still up www.deadlywind.com just havent updated it in AGES...

Here's the alluminum built valve milled by nicad from straight alluminum.

    From this thread: https://www.automags.org/forums/showt...ighlight=valve

Ya know, the last post in that thread is mine saying:
"Is it a reality, nicad? For you to sell these?

Or should I go ahead and purchase the Xvalve?

    Let us know~!!"
