I was thinking of bundling the ACE with a longer screw and a shim to get a permanent and more secure mount for the ACE.

Basically the ACE will stay mounted to the lowers with no wires hanging of it.

You can remove the ACE (of course) but you wont need to anymore to clean the lowers.

This sounds like a good option. Will the frame need to be modified for this?

    No.

It will only require you to remove the old screw and nut, and replace it with the ones provided with the new ACE.

Excellent; that's exactly what I was hoping for!

Everything we design and develop will be 100% drop in (IE: no milling or soldering)

    UPDATE on the ACE board:

I ordered some different sensors to test when the board comes back to me from the software engineer.

The board house is working on the colors now for the main boards.

We have been talking about details on the new ACE this week.

as you said its a drop in replacement, does that mean the ace will still be the single eye from the bottom functionality? I mean, that makes sense, but I just want to clarify.

Also, put me on the list for a main board + ACE, and if you could ship them together when they are all done that'd be appreciated -- I don't mind waiting.

Pound for pound the new ACE will look and function the same as the old one.

Because we have different interfacing components to drive the main board, we are changing the ACE to reflect those changes on the main board.

The original idea was to use the old ACE, but that meant soldering. Something we wanted to avoid at all costs.

The new ACE will drop right in to the old ACE slot without any issues.

There will be some slight changes:
You will no longer have a power switch. Powering on the gun will be done with a button on the main board. You wont even need the yellow pin if you choose not to use it.
We talked about eliminating the POT as well. May or may not happen.

As for the wait on the ACE with delivery of the main board: I cant promise you will get both in a timely manner. You may want to get the main board first to have it AND get the lower Pre-Order pricing.

I have mentioned before, the price on the main boards will go up soon. Looking to be like the end of the month to FEB 17TH 2012.

The board house informed me of material costs to be increased. Those prices will effect the production for certain.
