Two things to keep in mind, 1. you are going to shorten everything by 4.5" except the spring.
2. keep all cuts square
You will need super glue and two part epoxy.
Okay, take the outer sleeve and make two cuts, first at the dome end, cut a 1 1/2" from the end.
next, cut off 4 1/2" off the sleeve. Set aside for later.

now take the inner pod and cut 15/16" from the dome end and then cut off 4 1/2" of the tube. Now take the dome and tube and clean up the cut ends and wipe the cuts with acetone. Line up the twist in the tube and mark the tube so it will be easier to line up when your gluing them together with epoxy.

Take the screw and cut 15/16" from the round end then cut 4 1/2", then line up and mark it and glue it with super glue.

Now cutting the spring rod is different, so look close at the pics. Cut it a 1/2" from end of the groove near the threads, then cut 4" from there, at that cut measure a 1/2" and mark it (this is not a cut). You are going to cut out the center of the X down to the 1/2" mark (you can cut this out with a band saw or mill it out with a 1/4" mill end), this will now slide over the end of the X on the threaded piece and when it fits right, glue it with epoxy.

Now cut the spring at 12" then reshape the end. This is the only thing you have two chances at.

Go back to the outer sleeve and put the screw in the sleeve dome, then put the sleeve with the top cap on the dome half. This is where you clock the end of the screw with the the feed hole in the top cap (see pics), check one of your other pods to see where it should be set. Now mark it and glue it.

Now you need a spacer for the threaded end of the spring rod. It needs to be 3/8" thick 5/16" long with a1/4" hole in it. I used a delrin rod to make mine.
