Question Invisible invert Mini style eyes on a mag, possible?

I think it is very possible to mount eyes from underneath without showing any evidence on the outside of the mag.

Here is my experiment. I am sure i will up at some point and destroy a $100 body but it was donated to the cause by the Devil

And at this point I have proven it can be done, I just need to figure out how to drill the hole from the inside without a Dentist tool.

Ok here it is, moded and setting on a rail to show they are unseen.

    And now for the porn!

More to come as I figure things out.

There is a Karta body floating around out there that I had Luke do some work to with a Spyder frame that has a reflective Eye mounted under the breach area.

Could that just be machined out with an end mill?
I can’t really tell where it is in relation to the inside of the breach. (??)

Yes, I used an 1/8" straight router bit as a end mill and milled a flat spot centered in the same location as the external eye milling you do. To keep it from being seen i scribed a line with it on a rail and just stayed below that line. Then I drilled two holes the width of the eyes with a 3/32" drill bit and conected them with a very small dremmal bit

Looking at the pictures it doesn't look like he's in the breech yet.

I think the eye height is wrong, but now there is material horizontally in the way.

Hill. now that you have the eyes positioned, you may have to drill/mill a second time at an angle to get into the breach.

    Yes there as well.

The height is the same as when luke mills them on the outside. I will use super glue once i get them where i want them.

A shot in side the breach. It is still ruff but Im not done yet. I know things dont look like they line up but they will. I hope

The bit tends to walk a bit so I will adjust things tomorrow so it all lines up right. I Have cut the through hole on one side but I need to Get another 1/16" dremmal bit to finish up and test it.

I think it could be done much cleaner by someone with an actual machine shop.

Mongoose was working on this 1-2 years ago with that exact idea using mini parts. When he mentioned it to me I told him I wanted to do the same thing but using ion eyes instead of the mini eyes.

I think you would have better success with the mounting if you figured in the PCB to mount to the rail or body as well.

    Oh man..... Butchering time.

Just kidding, that is a very good try with just a rotary tool and bits.

I couldn't understand why it would not be possible to mill, or even Dremel the holes from the inside of the breach opening.

It should be easy, seeing as to the milling you did already, you just might need a longer bit to reach deeper and a sturdier grip to avoid chatter and get better control cutting.

It definitely looks like it could be done on a mill much better and maybe easier too.

So what are these eyes being hooked up to circuit board wise if this works out to satisfaction?

Good job so far keep at it, and good luck.

I forgot to mention these are Ego eyes. I say mini style because of the way they era mounted. So the eyes will plug into any eclips board. The idea is for this to be used with the Ego-Mag mod.

The main goal was to prove that there was enough width on the body for the eyes to fit without encroaching on the breach. Since It is very possible I will probally send it to luke so he can see if this is a mod he can offer.

    Pretty cool.

This is a very nice mod in my opinion.

I always hated the look cosmetically of a mag with eye covers, they alter the original look permanently, and visibly to much for my liking.

It would be awesome for this to work out, so you could share ALL the details... he he

    NICE!

Looks good, and works too.... perfect.

    Nice job.

I like your video showing the two different hoppers being used for a demonstration of the sensitivity, worked great.

OK, finally got this project done are ready for market!
This will be added to the services I offer. (And way cheaper than the 3mm Eyes over-all)
Big thanks to Hill for a great idea.
No more eye covers and these will work with probably 99% of the rail designs out there.

Ignore the little holes that the red arrows are pointing to they are just model place markers.

Well maybe a few final parts.. but the biggest hiccup currently is the rail I still need/want.

In the end it'll be a mag... but it'll be to my specs and my way and I can be picky about things.

Will PM you when I get a better drawing/explanation done.
