    Minimag porblems

Ebay find. Minimag valve s/n mm16811

On compressed air, 900 psi output
Brand new oring kit replace all orings and oiled
    leaks out the bolt
pull the trigger and not full fire (more like a chirp)
increase the velocity and leaks out the back of the reg but fires better but not consistant
hold the trigger down and no leaks

    any suggestions?

should I replace the spring pack or reg pin/spring?

    thanks

When you air it up does it click? If not check to make sure the sear rod is set correctly. Should be about a credit cards width from the back of the trigger. If it is correct try tightening/loosening the field strip screw. It can be over tightened.

You either forgot to install a oring in your power tube or you have too long of a pt spacer installed.

Holding the trigger down to stop leaks is a sign that your leak isn't happening anywhere in the on/off or behind (reg side), but rather it's happening within the powertube. Check everything that causes the sear to set the bolt like OPBN stated (trigger rod length, worn sear face, etc). Then also check to make sure you have a fresh, urethane powertube o-ring and also the correct spacer if it's a L7 bolt. If it's a L10 bolt, then make sure the carrier you're using is the largest size that doesn't allow a leak when there are no shims installed - i.e. you may need to go down a size, but make sure to use the same carrier o-ring when switching carriers since the purpose of a carrier is to "size" the o-ring.

When the velocity is set too high, that's supposed to happen and is a safety feature. If you don't have a chronograph, get one or borrow one because you're not going to be able to get your new valve set correctly without it.

It would be very unusual for the spring pack or reg pin/spring to go bad. If you can't get the valve to shoot between 270 - 300 fps without causing the leak out the back, then it could be possible that your regulator piston assembly has gone bad and needs replaced. They aren't user serviceable, you just have to replace it.

turns out to be the trigger sear length. I screwed the sear rod in about 1.5 threads.

It's a pretty common issue. Glad it was an easy fix.
