    sear material

    I am working on a project and need to know what metal the sear is made of for welding purposes.

    They rust if the internals get wet.. so I would say normal high carbon steel

    There made of hardened mild steel (not sure what grade) then plated (nickel i think) which is also hard wearing

    Used to be cadmium coating, which explains the color.
