Ebony Grips for my Triton

Just made half of the wood grip panels for my triton. Made from ebony, a lot harder to work with than most wood I've found, which should also make them more durable in the long run. Just got the shape and general form down, I wanna make it thinner, and will sand n polish it in time Just wanted to show it off for now

Great start. Sand that thing smooth and get it shiney and theyll be nicer than anything else I've seen offered for the Triton. Never understood why he went with the smoke panels instead of something black/opaque.

Got both sides finished and sanded. Will sand a little more and then seal it, any recommendations? or are all wood seals pretty much the same?

Agreed. I like the ebony too, because they are dark enough that they don't scream wood.

NIZE! I saw the first pot and was about to hit the quote button to chew you out for not doing that wood justice by sanding it.

So...finishes. Ebony is a super oily wood, so whatever finish you use, you want to give it a good acetone rub-down first. My first option would be a few thin layers of foam brushed on West System 207. Barring that, put down a couple thin layers of lacquer sanding sealer (then sand smooth to 600 grit), and take to an auto body place for a clear topcoat. You can also get some decent auto body lacquer at an auto zone or similar store, just stay away from the rattle can stuff.
