We should start directing everyone back here.

"Did you try AO?" heh? Sounds convincing enough.

I don't have Facebook. I have noticed that the site traffic has seemed to slow over the past few years.
It grinds my gears when people post Facebook links, and of course in order to view them, most time you have to login.

I just have no desire to make a Facebook account. Guess that's my loss, but a loss I can cope with.

My motorcycle dragracing forums have had a major loss of traffic as well. When asking about it I'm told that fb has taken the traffic. Well I'm sorry. FB does not store anything in a way that can be easilly researched later.

No nevermind the lack of privacy you have with 2/3 of the apps on the planet now.

FB isn't the only problem. The economy plays into the slowdown as well. Ever since the housing market took a dump the paintball market has been in a slow downward slide. There has been some recent indicators that I have noticed that points towards prices starting to come back...

Facebook is what ever kind of bubble you make it to be. Liberal, conservative, what ever. The algorithm filters for your preference and on top of that you usually associated with likeminded people.

It does seem slower here, and I hadn't really thought about why. I'm not on facebook, because it feels wrong to put so much information out there... I guess I'll Just keep checking in here with the other social media dinosaurs...

No...they try to suppress areas that they disagree with. People often run tests to see just how many of their subscribers actually get the feed...there is evidence that the subjects that are not PC friendly are not going thru like they should.

I'd love to see the evidence and the methodology. Reduction in page subscribers seeing posts in their feed is a function of two things; subscriber engagement (how often page followers interact with the page and it's posts), and Facebook attempting to push pages into paying to boost posts. It happens to all pages irrespective of politics. This is why even popular pages often resort to posting feel good memes and platitudinous truisms. People just engage more with funny vines and cat pictures than they do with things which are not PC (which by definition are offensive to (some) peoples sensibilities).

This is also a bit of conspiracy thinking. At any given time their are at least 700 coders working on Facebook's algorithms. Bug hunting, etc. In order to fix/improve something you need to know what it does. Asking 3 people to keep a secret is 2 too many. Now 700+ with a very high turnover rate? That's thousands of people, many of whom have been fired, many of whom have different political views. Nobody is blowing a whistle? Nobody is suing?

I have no doubt that Zuckerberg is a globalist and at least a socialist if not a communist (although I don't see him giving us equal shares of his wealth). I just don't think this theory is particularly feasible.

Its simple. For a majority of people, having the instant access or notifications on running threads is eazier than logging on, going to the forum, searching for the post & then going about business. Whether it's laziness or how insipid that facebook has become in changing how we as people communicate is up to debate. Why go searching for what interests you, when facebook will bring it directly to you.

I don't know, ask someone that is on Facebook, as i am not on it, even though i have been tempted and been asked to join, i just haven't.

I prefer the forums, i prefer going to where and what. I do not like to see that if i choose to avoid a person, that that person can see it or know it. There is security in lurking.

I will help him earn ad money/clicks when George Soros believes in American exceptionalism, and that will never happen because he believes America is everything thats exceptionally wrong in the world just as Barry Obama does.....
