Doc's New Ultrashort, Ultralight "Tanto" Freak Barrel

Update! This is now officially known as the Tanto Barrel!

Hot off the press, I now have a large supply of my latest piece, a very light and very compact one-piece Freak-insert barrel:

It's just 8-3/4" long, WGP/'Cocker threaded, takes any Smart-Parts/GOG/SP Freak insert, and weighs just 65 grams.

They're in stock and available now for just $28 each plus shipping. (Polished aluminum at the moment, black anno is coming soon!)

My PM box fills too fast here, so please email me at doc@docsmachine.com to order. Shipping inside the US will be just $6.50 for a total of $34.50. To speed things up a bit, just email me your PayPal address and I'll send you a payment request for the total.

    Thank you!
    Doc.

Very neat. Nice old school look. Please follow up when you have black in stock.

Black's in the works, as well as a couple of additional barrel threads, but they're a few weeks out.

    Thanks everybody!

Can you whip up a few in 11"? TK says that was the most efficient size if I remember correctly....

If this happens, I'd like 1 of each raw.

Emailed you with my PayPal address. Send me a request for payment. Polished aluminum pleases!

EDIT: Thanks doc! Can't wait to see the new piece! Will post pics sooner or later.

Also, I have a Dye ultralite that is uselessly over sized, (.693?)

Can you machine it to accept freak inserts?

It has custom anodizing, can said machining be done with out risking the anodization?

    Thanks, Jim

First off, Tanto barrels are now posted up in my recently-updated online store!

Second, yes indeed, black is in the works, as are a limited number of other barrel threads, like Ion and the later Angels.

Third, yes indeed, I can bore an Ultralite with little or no damage to the anodizing. Drop me an email and we can hash out the details.

Question: the groove on the back portion, after the barrel threads, why? Is it an esthetic choice, does it serve a purpose, did you just felt that you wanted to loose some weight from the ridge build up, or what?

    Quick announcement:

Black anno has been set back a bit. I got my 'test batch' back on Saturday, and the parts look great. The parts I buffed had a nice shine to 'em, and the 'right out of the machine" ones had a good factory-look gloss to 'em.

... And then today, the following Monday, I got an email from the company notifying me they'll be closing their doors at the end of this month.

    Direct quote from their email:

We are sorry for the late notice, but negotiations with a potential buyer have fallen through and we no longer wish to continue operating due to California's burdensome business, environmental and financial climate.
Thankfully, I have other vendors I've been dealing with as well. It's just going to add a week or two while I "shift gears" and make arrangements with them on the project.

I do still have plenty of polished ones on hand, it'll just take a bit more on the black. Sorry about the inconvenience. (Although I will note it's by no means the first anno shop I've dealt with in may career that's closed down over the years. Sad to see, but it happens.)

I would love to see a tanto xl, meaning the same barrel but sized for the new freak xl 8" inserts. I would rsvp and prepay even...

    Love mine by the way.
