The z lock is a fail safe. The pin is use less in that body.
The z lock also isn't effective on the xmag bodies either
Unscrewing yes I thought you meant releasing outwards like the catch design on a rail
Why would you
u panic and do that???

I just picked up another Evo.
Tried two different Xvalves, this body has the same issue, but with one valve its worse than the other.
At least I saw this thread and knew to test it before anodizing .... thank you.
If I had a Tuna-Valve I probably would not play paintball with it...
Correct me if I am mistaken. But when I think of how pressure release happens when air vents, and also think about how a projectile works...I have trouble believing that the danger is that great if the reg unscrews. I guess maybe if it was hanging on by a thread and built pressure it might pop off, but without a chamber from the back of the valve to compress in and push it backward (I guess into the paintballer's noodle) the air would choose the path of least resistance and release vertically. I have never fully understood why this is such a great concern. Is it actually of great concern to the operator? Or is the equipment in the most danger? Obviously it would not be a good thing, I get that. It could nick your fishy x valve.
Negative ghost rider...
Air will release in its easiest path, but depending on where, that is how you can get a rocket from the valve. The z lock and the field strip screw hold the valve in place, forcing the air to go out the valve down the barrel. Without them there, you have the valve acting like a rocket, and the momentum of the air releasing will be just like a cork lifting out of the champagne bottle.
I want to see it happen... And don't call me ghost rider.
How much pressure is in the valve? The mass of the valve and the small amount of space it has to contain pressurized air. I wouldn't think it would have that much force.
If I'm anyone...I am Ice Man...I think I'm the best but I'm not. But at least I don't hook up with the manly Chick.
Goose would not have died if he had a z-lock on his valve...poor bastard.
Use a round file or a dremmel or better yet send it back to XMT and have him machine it.
If you opt to go with the notch, check and make sure your air fitting will clear the body when you swivel it into place. It looks like it will work but I would double check.
Design wise I would prefer the notch to it being machined out the back.
