Minimags and automags are essentially the same. The differences are the minimag had 4 stars instead of 3 on the valve. All the stars represent is how many times you can send it to AGD for repair. The minimag also has a vertical bottle adapter, and a longer somewhat milled body. I personally prefer how the minimag looks.

question... if the minimag and automag are basically the same why is there a resonably big price difference? just wondering

I dont know the exact reason. I'm assuming its because there is more stainless steel in the body, comes with a steel braided air hose with quick disconnect, vertical adapter, and the extra star on the valve. The price isnt bad though, if you look around you can find a new one for $309.
