    Photoshopped Fades/Anno/Coats

    Hey everyone.

I've been toying with the idea of getting my RT Pro Powder-coated, or Annodized. Anyway, i wanted to figure out how it would look, before I actually go out and have it done.

I've seen people "fake" fades and whatnot using Photoshop, and I'd like a little bit of help with it.

    Here's the Image i'm using, I hope AngelGuy.com doesn't mind

    <img src="attachment.php?s=&postid=465170" border="0" alt="" vspace="8" hspace="4">

ANyway, if someone could do a blue on everything black, except the mainbody, that'd be great.

What would be even BETTER is if someone showed me how do do this, so that I can play around with funky colors and whatnot without taking up other people's time.

I've done a search, and haven't come up with anything really solid, so I'm asking here.

    a Tutorial would be awesome.

    photoshop real quick and dirty

Easiest way to do this (not very clean, but easiest)
    1. Use the Magic wand to select the parts, if you don't get say the whole barrel, hold shift and click on the part of the barrel not selected.

    2. Use the paint bucket tool to fill the part with the color you want.

This anything like what you wanted?

How to do it? First step is getting a good program like PSP or Photoshop. Select what you want to color change with the selecting tools (Magic wand will work good simetimes, other times you will have to do it manualy if there are other similar colors near) and then just do adjust>Color balance .. volia.

Well, this is a real quick one for you. I think going by what you asked, that it would look more like this. As you can see the front grip, Dye Stickies, screws, and trigger would most likely not be painted. I am not sure of the exact shade of blue, but this looks pretty close to what I have seen some done. It isn’t a very good job, but I didn’t have much time to work on it…

Well, I don’t know what proportion of fade you wanted, or exactly what you mean by DEEP RED, but this is what I would think you wanted… close?

Shartly, HOW DO YOU DO THAT!?!?!?!?!

That's exactly what I want to toy with, but I just don't know how to do it.

I have quite a few Ideas, perhaps painting the mainbody, and leaving the site/forgrip rails raw, etc...

I just REALLY would like to dink around with it myself, could you show me how to do that?

Work in layers. Select the areas you want to change, OR erase around them leaving them as the only thing on a layer (often times easier). Play with hue and saturations, color slides, and then brightness and contrast.

Sometimes when you have a chromed part you want to color you will have to physically color it… as you saw, just doing the slide will not change it enough to make it look really painted.

You may also try multiple layers and layers at reduced opacities. To make a chromed part black (like I did) color it first…. ANY color. Then do a saturation slide all the way left taking ALL color out of it. When doing this stick to your basic colors, and ONLY work with them, NOT MASTER. You will save yourself a lot of work that way.

There are many ways to do the same things, so play around and see what happens. The speed in which you do things will only get faster with time, and the ease you end up with what you want will as well.

And don’t forget to toss in a layer in a solid color (such as WHITE) to use as a background when trying to work on more detailed things, or to get edges cleaner. It is much easier than trying to do that while looking at the normal background. Then when you are through with that step, hide that layer.

I hope this helps… I don’t have much time for a real lesson.
