How many of you folks play miniature games?

I originally met the guy who got me into paintball (just last year) because we both played miniature games. I mean games like Warhammer, Void, Chainmail where grown men (yeah we're working on it but it is also largely male dominated) move intricately painted models around on what looks like a toy train diorama, roll a lot of dice and say things like,
"everything under this template is DEAD!"

I was just wondering if there were any like minded folk in this forum.

    Thanks,

    Marlin

not really a "miniature" game but I used to play Discwars. My buds and I play AD&D on weekends with mini's to represent our battles and whatnot. And usually it's a bunch of lego guys

    Smile Yay D&D

    Yeah,

I started playing D&D in the 5th grade or so. I liked painting those lead minis the best, so the other games were just a natural extension.

I use to play WH40k. I still have friends who play every now and then, but they live far from me now and its hard to get out to see them and play a game of 40k. Only thing i dont like about tabletop miniatures is the cost involved...those things aint cheap.

hmm...i wonder where my Chaos Marines are at....

    Talking Oooooh Chaos

    Yeah!

Have you seen the new Chaos minis? They are extra cool, new Codex too. I've been thinking about getting some but as you said, "they ain't cheap."

Now all my dough is going to an RT Pro, so I gotta lay off the minis, besides I have 4 Chapters of Space Marines 3 flavors of Orks, and I just picked up a 'nids boxed army for cheap!!

Too bad you're so far away or we could play a game or 2.

    40k

I've played Warhammer 40k since it was 'Rogue Trader'.

I've probably got minatures that are older than some people on the forums.

Haven't gotten into the new 40k because of time restraints, but if they ever make rules for Harlequins again I just might dust off a few minis.

    Talking Rules for Harlequins

I think they have some "in progress" rules in Inferno or Journal. One of those Fanatic Press mags. I can find out for sure if you care. I have a little over 1500 points of "beakie" Crimson Fists.

40k. Blood Angels. Been playing for about 4 years now. I've got close to 8k points, but probably 4k painted. I discovered paintball. What can I say!

i play with the 'nids(tyranids) in 40k, dwarfs in fantasy, and whatever extra team is available for bloodbowl...i placed third at a local rogue trader tourney with my nids, it would have been first except that they count the personality score and army look score and my army wasnt painted and i dont think the older guys that were playing liked getting beat by a kid

i tied for first for battle points though, some hard fought battles....

I played a really heated game of Risk once with my cousins. Does that count?

If risk counts then I say chess counts too... so would checkers... and all other board games... but they don't. So I doubt risk counts.

    Ah,

Well you see 40K and those games aren't really strategy games in the true sense. They are just hopped up dice games. As we say her in the Palouse....

"The best strategy in the world won't save you on a bad dice day."

Hey good luck with those Orks. They are my favorite too. Go with lots of troops, and skip the special stuff unless you want a speed freeks army, and then you still wanna pack as many troops as you can.

Theres a ton of threads on this already

I used to play 40K. I have a decent IG army. May have to get back into it now with the Ordus Malleus able to field an army

Hooray for Demonhunters. I have a weakness for the Order of Inquisition, what can I say.
