As for the potential terrorist, I strongly feel that Sam, myself and even you are vastly different then them. We value human life. Any group that preaches suicide as a way to heaven is evil. I am not condeming Islam as there are many peaceful practitioners of it. People of all religions have commited evil acts in the name of God, but they were all evil people. I for one value my life far to much to intentionaly kill myself to take out an enemy. I am not a coward and would fight for my country if called, however dieing in battle and blowing myself up are two vastly different things, so yes apotential terrorist with no value for life (theirs or others) is vastly different from us! *

Every time you go to work you are stripped searched. You are treated none humane. What if you see people all around you with everything and you have nothing. Then someone comes up to you and tells you all of this is because of the US. Rid them, and your family will be happy. What will you do if you had no hope left. No other choices. You see yourself dieing a broke old man wishing you could change your country for your family.

She was a speaker on the show "Is their a liberal bias in the media" on Donahue.

Let me ask your something. (these is just my line of thought)

Once one station shows it, do you think in the mood of the country at that time, everyone looking for who did this, that a news station could not show it? And just because two news stations shows it doesn't make it truth. Facts makes it true.

I'll do my fact checking on that later this week!

It has to be true because the conspiracy involved in making this falacy up would be impossible to pull together. If it were one reel of news footage then yes. This wasn't! This was live reports done by a number of DIFFERENT, INDEPENDENT News outlets. Everyone from AP to Reuters, CNN to MSNBC carried their own footage of it. You really have watched "Wag the Dog" and "Conspiracy Theory" too many times!

Finally Al-Jezera carried it. They are all muslim all the time. What would be there motivation to slander their target audience to the world? This is also before Al-Jezera became big news. Up until this point they were a localized Pro-Arab network.

Your logic on this argument does not stand up to reality. Please step back and think about the vastness this conspiracy would have to entail to be true? It is not possible. Besides, now that Bush is everyone's favorite target, don't you think that this "fraud" would have been exposed by now?

We had a situation over here I dont know if any of you guys saw it over there The Tampa boatpeople issue???? we had "socalled refugees" commin over on a leaking heap of S#$t.......they got picked up by a container ship. All the captain had to do by international law was take them to the nearest port. that just so happend to be their port of depature. They threatend to take over the Tamper if they wernt taken to Christmas island ( a blatant act of piracy) the Aussie Government stood their ground stating that they had no call to come to this country & kept them out. when they heard of sept 11th they cheared. All but 3 were found to have NO refugee status.

If you are a refugee you normally have no money to Buy a spot on one of those boats. It costs big dollars to come to Australia on a refugee boat. None had passports when they were interviewed by customs, how do you get from Iraq of Afganistan to Indo if you have no passport? So what were they hiding? I have no problem with ppl comin into Australia fom overseas, I do have a problem with ppl jumping queues with no ablility of finding out who they are. Lets face facts, there are two types of ppl in Afganistan..those with no money & those with money. The ones witout are goat hearders & the ones with are high up in the Taliban... Probably future sleeper probably you just never know & I for one wont take the risk Cos one day a sleeper unit could blow up a school that has my kids in it!

It was never carried live. If it would have been it would have been dark when it was shown. And the video footage was during the day.

I have read some of your posts & some of your Ideals....Quite honestly mate I see just why shartley & 1stdeadeye argue with you.......

You seriously need to drop out of College & spend some time away from your left wing communistic College proffesors & see just what happens in the World. You need to see just how people get treated it the rest of the world. You are blined by the America that you live in, you seen to know just what is going on overseas from just what you read in a book or hear from a teacher. Have you seen firsthand anything about what you are claiming???? I have seen firsthand a guy getting a Dunlop (Tyre full of petrol)necklace for talking to his neighbours Muslim wife! I have seen a carbomb go off to try and kill the president of sri lanka. Why I asked does this stuff go on in the world??? It is not just what America does to these countries that invokes them (sure that wouldnt help) but it is Naturally in their blood. They live by the sword! that is their way of doing it. I dont think that you would get anywhere near the responce from the public if Sept 11th had been a millitary aircraft crashing into one of your aircraft carriers. the fact is they targeted a civilian target to deliberatly get the worlds focus on their plight. well they got it & they also got a few bombs as well. Their ideas are so far removed from our own it unbelievable. Who, other than a complete madman would even come up with the idea of sept 11th???

My suggestion to you is Drop out of Colledge........Its clouding your judgement.

My apologies to shartley & 1stdeadeye

I guess you have no idea where I go. The University of Alabama is that last place you think of when you think of left wing. And again, why does everyone automatically think of college students as brainwashed commies. It is getting quite old.

Please list things you have a problem with.

I have talked to many people in foreign countries. MY school has a great ELI (English Language Institute). In that there are currently 4 Palestinian girls, one guy, and many others from Iraq (actually a Kurd), Saudi Arabia, and some even from Iran. It is interesting to sit down with them and see what they go through. The Palestinian girls said they would love to go to college in Palestine in their home land but they feared that it would be closed down and they would lose all their education and won't be able to graduate. They tried to get passports to immigrate to the US. But guess what, Israel controls them and they don't make it easy. The only way they could come to the US is through this study program. We sat down and talked about 1 hour at lunch one day (I only realized latter I was eating a ham sandwich, not good). They told me how everyday just to get to work or to school, they have to pass through three check points. IF they are lucky they will be be allowed to go through un searched. But more times then not they are searched to a point where it is embarrassing. They have to leave like 2 hours earlier then should be just to get where they are going. Donít let a suicide bombing happen then they can't even leave their house. If so they would get beaten up by the Israeli soldiers. Now let me ask you. Is this something that you can live in day to day? We in the US can sit back in our leather desk chairs, drinking our coke, and eating a big fat steak and be like it is their problem. We are fine, they are bad. They bring it on themselves, they are naturally evil. But once you get out of that comfort zone you get to see how stupid that is.

You try being force to live like they do, you try being forced to grow up where you are constantly being prejudice against and see how you come out of it. All they want is a better life, all they want is the right to have a state of their own as was promised to them. SELF DETERMINATION.

No smiley face next to the "I do not like to be annoyed". Isn't something annoying you the same as not liking it

The only problem I have with Collegeboy is that his views are so radical that my BRILLIANT and INSIGHTFUL observations are ignored

    EDIT:

Also Collegeboy did you read my post about the Call for Peace organization. People on both sides want to just live their lives in peace. Palestinians have some justified complaints but the terrorist activities have actually degraded their cause.

No I didn't, I must have missed it.

But yes, people on both sides would love a peace. But the problem are this radical groups and their attacks and the IDF attacks on the Palestinians. If you can stop that for a time of 10 years, then maybe we might have something in that area close to a peace.

    How are my ideas radical?

Well first some of your comments about Palestinians not celebrating in the streets. It cannot be doubted that some of them were. The truth is, however, that this was probably a small portion of the population. Just like there can be a peace demonstration in Portland and the general public (including myself) would have no clue that it even happened in our city. It is the shocking stuff, however, that sells newspapers/draws people to the screens.

At peace rallies for example you can have one thousand protestors with organized church group waving a flags while one person with more extreme views is burning a flag while screaming FREE Mbubal Jabud (made up name). Guess which part makes it on the news.

I truly believe that the average Israeli and the average Palestinian find themselves in a situation of escalating violence that they would both like to avoid. Unfortunately you have a complex situation where Palestinians have some legitimate grievences. There is no easy remedy to the situation, however, as territory and land seized from the Palestinians has now been settled by others who have invested a good deal into their "homes". What a mess!!!!

    Collegeboy Guest
Well I never said what I believed in the Palestinian celebrations. On the one hand we have these pictures that are so easily distorted and can be easily faked. On the other you have groups that hate the US. But I do think that it could have happened, but I also think it could not have happened. Do I know that it happened, no. But that doesn't mean it didn't happen. This is all I am saying.

Are there anything else that would make me a radical.

I wouldn't be mind called one, if I was one. But I am not. I am actually a centrist ,with a slight shift to the left, who share some ideas of both dems and republicans.

Universities are a BREEDING ground and recruiting area for hippies.

Doesn't mean that most of us are, just that they are more visible than the average student who is too lazy, doesn't care, or just happy with the way things are.

    It annoys me.

Anti-establishment, anti-government, pro-Earth, anti-capitolism... Seems like the majority of them belong to each of these ideolegies on my campus.

They also choose the umbrella of anti-war. Everybody is anti-war.

    They are all pro- self-righteous.

    Self-righteousness PISSES me off.

It is funny Facts, no one has proven me wrong yet. Not you here or on that other site, and not anyone. Please show me where I have been proven wrong. Again you seem so good at making statements but shy away when I ask for proof.

Colleges tend to turn out a lot of liberal minded thinkers. That is a good thing. But that doesn't mean we are brainwashed commies. Communism is something that will never be reached and is as far left as you can go. By you calling liberals commies I have the right to call conservatives fascist. But we all know that isn't true, so show the same courtesy.

Why do a lot of college kids become liberal (I WAS ONE BEFORE I WAS IN COLLEGE), because they finally get out of the restraints of their parents and can think on their own. It isnít commie professors, it is the students own logic that turns them to liberalism.

Think of this....when you are 40 years old & have been out in the work force & away from the teachers influence. then take a look at what you realy feel then, then think back on how you felt & what your ideas were now.
The reason we all feel that you are all brain washed is because you are! College students always think that they can change the world & sometimes they can IE: Vietnam at the detrement of your soliders. but it is short lived the next generation of students are the same they want to Save gay & lesbian Whales or something. The sooner you realise that the machine that we all live in still keeps chugging along with or without Collegeboy's input the better it will be for you. I used to think that my input into todays society made a difference. It doesnt.

Think of this. A major multinational company dumps thousands of shiploads of Iron tailings off the coast of Papua New Guinea. I thought I want to get to the head of that company and put a stop to that man made disaster! when I thought about it later in life I realised even if I was the CEO of that company I couldnt have made a difference....Why?
Because its all about bottom line. It caost $20000 to dump each shipload into the sea. It costs $780,000 to contain the same amount of tailings in pits. The shareholders wouldn't allow it & neither would the Boardmembers!
You mentioned about getting searched each time they go across a checkpoint, good....its the chicken or the egg syndrome. they check em for a reason. these students carry bombs across the borders. why do you think they check them??
if you lived in the 60's you would have been ranting & raving with all the othe flower power College students, spitting on your countrymen calling them baby killers! Those same Soliders had to kill kids & women because they were the enemy! the same kids & women faught with guns & bombs. it was kill or be killed! the thing is the film footage got into the hands of "do gooding minority groups" such as the The University of Alabama & so forth & you lot shout "Baby killers" Those same students today 30 odd years on would be ashamed of themselfs!

Strange. While CB has some strange ideas some of the other ideas on this board are much more disturbing. What are you advocating? Should we abolish colleges all together? Perhaps it would be good if we had a the state censure beliefs and teachings that were anti-american. We'll end us with a socialist system whether we let the conservatives or the liberals run it!!!

Higher education is a necessary part of our society. Nippinout! Go out and enjoy some counter culture. I want to see you posting about your new found vegetarian lifestyle!

Get out of the teacher's influence. I don't know where you get that idea. I was this way before I got to college. Read my post above for more.

No I would not be calling the soldiers baby killers and spitting on and such. That is just plain wrong. I would have been protesting the war, but I would have gone if drafted.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I never turn out like you. I hope I never get to the point where I quit my ideals, my beliefs for I fell that I can't do anything. Where I have to comprimise my beleifs for "reality". For when that time comes, I don't even know what I would be living for then.

Hey Aussie what has gotten into you! Yes you were young once and thought you could change the world. You were full of ideals and a conviction to make the world a better place (which you of course thought that previous generations had screwed up). That is the nature of youth and the fact is that they do change things in our society just not as quickly or to the degree that they would like (thank god for that). Yes the 60s hippie generation enacted change only after middle america realized that fighting Vietnam was nuts. Pulling out of Vietnam was the RIGHT thing to do and saved US soldiers lives. The only thing that was wrong with the whole thing was the way US soldiers were treated! That was a true dishonor!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I never turn out like you. I hope I never get to the point where I quit my ideals, my beliefs for I fell that I can't do anything. Where I have to comprimise my beleifs for "reality". For when that time comes, I don't even know what I would be living for then.
I have never Quit my ideals. I have realised that the difference that you think you can make as an individual sometimes is damn near impossible!
You would have called them baby killers. the people that said that 30 years ago believed in the same sort of crud you believe in.

Hey what do you mean young once I'm only 36. I'm middle aged

I'm only 31! My point is that you remember what it was like. The volunteer work, the vegetarian tendencies, ah some of those beautiful hippie chicks (the pseudo hippy ones anyway that talked the talk but wouldn't give up their makeup!!!)

If youth lost that element what a depressing world that would be!

Nah I dont recon thats it! I think that we just realise what the real issues are & what fights should be faught.

We all think our used to think that our elders know nothing. well let me tell you that it was us that knew nothing & you can learn more of your elders than you can in a book.
Look at the American Indians they had respect for anyone that was older than them. Because they knew more!
