I'm curious about this, I've always taken out my bolt springs from my mags whenever I'm not playing with them. I just thought it would prevent the spring wearing out faster. However, I wonder if this is actually necessary? Do ya'll just leave your bolt springs on the bolt and in the gun for extended periods, or you do remove them when not playing?
Bolt springs- Leave 'em in or take 'em out?

Springs, like most metals, wear out by movement not static load. There might be some loss of "spring" over time, but it would be so small that it wouldn't be noticed.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

The bolt spring isn't constantly compressed to its limit. That is the issue with real pistol magazines when they are filled and left compressed constantly. The spring steel creeps and looses some of its set. In theory, an automag bolt spring should creep some amount in storage, but it must be many years in storage compared to a few days of play.
When you finally get one that has gone short, you save it for a pump mag.Comment
