uh, because it's true? It's a well known FACT that college campii are one of the last bastions of liberalism/socialism in this country.

you seem to be living proof of that.

Universities are a BREEDING ground and recruiting area for hippies.

Doesn't mean that most of us are, just that they are more visible than the average student who is too lazy, doesn't care, or just happy with the way things are.

        It annoys me.

Anti-establishment, anti-government, pro-Earth, anti-capitolism... Seems like the majority of them belong to each of these ideolegies on my campus.

They also choose the umbrella of anti-war. Everybody is anti-war.

        They are all pro- self-righteous.

        Self-righteousness PISSES me off.

The reason we all feel that you are all brain washed is because you are! College students always think that they can change the world & sometimes they can IE: Vietnam at the detrement of your soliders. but it is short lived the next generation of students are the same they want to Save gay & lesbian Whales or something. The sooner you realise that the machine that we all live in still keeps chugging along with or without Collegeboy's input the better it will be for you. I used to think that my input into todays society made a difference. It doesnt.

Think of this. A major multinational company dumps thousands of shiploads of Iron tailings off the coast of Papua New Guinea. I thought I want to get to the head of that company and put a stop to that man made disaster! when I thought about it later in life I realised even if I was the CEO of that company I couldnt have made a difference....Why?
Because its all about bottom line. It caost $20000 to dump each shipload into the sea. It costs $780,000 to contain the same amount of tailings in pits. The shareholders wouldn't allow it & neither would the Boardmembers!
You mentioned about getting searched each time they go across a checkpoint, good....its the chicken or the egg syndrome. they check em for a reason. these students carry bombs across the borders. why do you think they check them??
if you lived in the 60's you would have been ranting & raving with all the othe flower power College students, spitting on your countrymen calling them baby killers! Those same Soliders had to kill kids & women because they were the enemy! the same kids & women faught with guns & bombs. it was kill or be killed! the thing is the film footage got into the hands of "do gooding minority groups" such as the The University of Alabama & so forth & you lot shout "Baby killers" Those same students today 30 odd years on would be ashamed of themselfs!

Strange. While CB has some strange ideas some of the other ideas on this board are much more disturbing. What are you advocating? Should we abolish colleges all together? Perhaps it would be good if we had a the state censure beliefs and teachings that were anti-american. We'll end us with a socialist system whether we let the conservatives or the liberals run it!!!

Higher education is a necessary part of our society. Nippinout! Go out and enjoy some counter culture. I want to see you posting about your new found vegetarian lifestyle!:)

Get out of the teacher's influence. I don't know where you get that idea. I was this way before I got to college. Read my post above for more.

No I would not be calling the soldiers baby killers and spitting on and such. That is just plain wrong. I would have been protesting the war, but I would have gone if drafted.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I never turn out like you. I hope I never get to the point where I quit my ideals, my beliefs for I fell that I can't do anything. Where I have to comprimise my beleifs for "reality". For when that time comes, I don't even know what I would be living for then.

Hey Aussie what has gotten into you! Yes you were young once and thought you could change the world. You were full of ideals and a conviction to make the world a better place (which you of course thought that previous generations had screwed up). That is the nature of youth and the fact is that they do change things in our society just not as quickly or to the degree that they would like (thank god for that). Yes the 60s hippie generation enacted change only after middle america realized that fighting Vietnam was nuts. Pulling out of Vietnam was the RIGHT thing to do and saved US soldiers lives. The only thing that was wrong with the whole thing was the way US soldiers were treated! That was a true dishonor!

I have never Quit my ideals. I have realised that the difference that you think you can make as an individual sometimes is damn near impossible!
You would have called them baby killers. the people that said that 30 years ago believed in the same sort of crud you believe in.

I'm only 31! My point is that you remember what it was like. The volunteer work, the vegetarian tendencies, ah some of those beautiful hippie chicks (the pseudo hippy ones anyway that talked the talk but wouldn't give up their makeup!!!)

If youth lost that element what a depressing world that would be!

Nah I dont recon thats it! I think that we just realise what the real issues are & what fights should be faught.

We all think our used to think that our elders know nothing. well let me tell you that it was us that knew nothing & you can learn more of your elders than you can in a book.
Look at the American Indians they had respect for anyone that was older than them. Because they knew more!
