the ring inside mag bodies

Whats the ring for on the inside of mag bodies? Is it needed?

it's there to take the impact from the bolt, bodies will get damaged over time if the ring is missing

The ring holds in a body washer. The washer is what really takes the abuse from the bolt and is made from steel. Where the body is aluminum, the impact of several hundred thousand bolt strikes over the life of the body will mangle it pretty good. The clip sits in a groove just after the washer and holds everything together so all the components play nice!
