Just bought an E-mag. Thx to Ando and maniacmechanic

Hey guys,
I think I have found a good deal on a used, but still good condition e-mag. The charger is missing, so the current owner has only used it in mech mode. Being new to the automag line, I don't really know what all I should ask about the gun. Are there any problems in particular that I should be aware of? I don't think the owner has much info about the marker as it was given to him by his brother in lieu of some substantial debt. Everything appears stock. Some minor scratches. No charger. The screw in front of the trigger looks a little rusty, and so do the battery bolts. Will that be a problem?

Is it a white or your typical brown looking rust on the battery bolts? If white, the battery is probably leaking out. Besides that just make sure all the internals are inside. If he's using it in mec mode then you know everything from the trigger to the valve is good to go. The rest is a crap shoot with out a battery. If there's rust on the bolts then you know it wasn't taken care of very well so getting it up and running might cost you a bit. I wouldn't go more then$350, especially if the internals are UNK. Once you get it, send it to Tuna (AGD Tech) for a full overhaul. He'll have that thing whispering sweet nothings in your ear

Depending on what he finds which could be a lot due to the lack of TLC but besides the batter, E-Mag internals are pretty hard core and you already know the mechanical side of the house is solid. If your lucky, all it'll be is a new charger and Tuna's time and service + what ever upgrades you might get from him. If you come out of it, for say $600, you got your self a good deal.

Thanks, Ando! I am hopeful that the brains are in good shape. I will PM a pic to ya since the sale is still pending. I was thinking about sending it straight off to Tunaman. He really does amazing work. That is if he has the time for it. Thanks for the reply, and if anyone else would like to chime in, please do!

You can get higher capacity batteries from KC. If I were getting an Emag, I'd throw one of those in right off.

Chances are, the battery needs replacing anyway, just due to age.

Thanks, guys. I'll try to test it when it comes in on Tuesday. That's right, I bought it! I have a feeling y'all are right about the NiMH battery. maniacmechanic was saying that the SNs were not necessarily produced sequentially, but this one is pretty old from the looks of it. If you'd like to see my purchase, here is what was included. I'll reveal the purchase price of the 70+ lbs of gear once I have the tracking number in hand.

There's a little more stuff not pictured. But I think it's safe to say my apartment is now an armory.

wow, I am in the same situation, I recently bought an emag on craigslist for $75! It also didn't come with a charger, asa, or shims. I'm about to buy a level x parts kit, cp asa, charger, and a ule w/clamping feedneck. I cant wait to get the thing shooting, the emag is my dream marker .

That hopper you got is called a revy and yes, that is a twist lock barrel.

Aaawwwww SOUP! It's good to know that there is someone else out there that should have a guilty conscience. You got a better deal than I did! Once I get everything, I'm going to price it all out and try to send most of the other stuff on its way. It'd be cool to start a late bloomers' refurbishing thread. Just so we can compare notes and track our build progress.

BTW, your userid subliminally enticed me into a nice big bowl of Mur Glen beef and barley soup. It's starting to get cold down here in Huntsville; 35F low tonight.

Congrats on the buy, and welcome to the mag community! I just recently bought another mag myself (xmag).

Ohh and if you decide you dont have a use for that revy let me know, I have been looking for a smoke colored one.

yeah that would be cool to compair our progress. I aired it up for the first time today (without shims) and it fired great, but the level x definatly needs tuned.

I will try and get some pics posted up this week.

I wish I could justify buying some of the x-mags I've seen for sale. Maybe one day. Thanks for the welcome, Grimm! You'll be the first to know if/when I start selling off the rest of the gear.

I have a feeling I'll be looking for a lvl10 pretty soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a successful test when mine arrives. Take pics and start "The History of SOUP's E-Mag!"
