How Many Players have a Small Air Compressor = 100PSI??

All,

I now have the prototype mini-compressor working and on the first run it hit 4500 psi

Don't ask me how long it takes to fill a tank because I have not hooked one up yet. I am just filling a small fitting with a gauge on it.

Now that I can evaluate the system, some other things are coming to mind. It MAY be possible to make a single stage mini-pump that you feed with a typical shop 100 psi compressor. This would eliminate the first two stages and obviously save a ton of money.

The trick is you need to have a shop compressor so my question is, how many of you have one??

Thanks,

AGD

I have a portable compressor, a pancake jobsite type compressor like a trim carpenter would use. Not sure if that would be what you are talking about.

I think this should be a poll

I have access to two, but neither of them are convenient to get to.

Here is amanual booster you can run off of a 100psi compressor, you need 500psi input though. http://shop.vendio.com/supplyndeman...5/?s=1220783660 It's about $350. Probably not as nice or efficient as what TK will produce.

You can buy a compressor for around $100. If I could fill my bottles at home for another $100 or so, I would totally pony up. It would be a great excuse to buy a compressor.

I have one also. Mine goes up to 220 psi. Would 220 be more helpful than just 100 psi?

It would be interesting to post the costs Tom:
Price of a full system vs price of a partial system.

On my side I dont own anything and would probably find it easier to buy a ready-set item.

I have a small air compressor (finish carpentry type) at my in-laws. If it saved me around $100 off the price of a full build version I would use it. If the savings is much less then that then I would rather have a full system...

I have the ability to get access to one, but not everyday anytime of the day. Possibly make two different versions? The biggest thing would be the price difference between the two, if you could buy the one stage and a compressor for cheaper than the 3 stage then theres not gunna be too much of a market for the 3 stage (except for people who don't have the space for a compressor or noise constraints.

EDIT: Removed unrelated question.

I have 3 compressors here at home.

My question is, do you need the 100psi for for a supply, or to drive the mini pump ?

I have a shop compressor, but I could probably afford the complete unit just to keep it in one package.

Questions:
Will the addition of a shop compressor extend the life of the Mini-HPA-Compressor?

What duty cycles are we looking at, would we need to run the shop compressor 100% or the time?

What would be the optimal size storage tank on the shop compressor to reduce duty cycles.

BTW, awesome work and thanks for just being around.

I think that there are a few issues to work out. By using two separate units, it might be less wear and tear. If Tom can focus on just the final stage, the unit might fill faster and work better. I think that most people are in agreement that if they have a compressor, this is better for them, and if they don't, then as long as the cost of a basic compressor AND the mini pump that Tom is making is about the same as getting an all in one package, they would buy it.

Personally, I think that having something that works off of a shop compressor is better. Now I have an excuse to by air tools
