Hottest emag EVER!! (Yup, it went on fire...).

One of the guys at my local field left this one in my care to see if I could do something with. I get all of the good ones.

Yeah, it looks like it can be refinished but I don't think the owner wants to go for it.

Yeah, I just noticed the link under it. There was enough abuse in that video to go around. Just when we thought we knew how badass AGD is. This happens and takes the bar up another notch. Sorry PE, Empire, Bob Long etc...You will never get there.

Doesn't look like a fire...more like the battery acid ate the hell out of it. If it was a fire that battery would be burnt

Battery top is melted and the bottom is scorched. The sides of the battery wouldn't actually burn because the battery is crammed into the battery case. It looks like it was burning where there were places for air to get into the battery pack.

I still can't figure out how it happened.

Those batteries produce hydrogen when charging due to an electrolytic reaction, on a submarine if we dont vent the battery compartment while charging it causes an explosion. The hydrogen from the charge likely got trapped in the NEAR airtight space and when heat was applied from the cell... BOOM!

on a side note I love fire and if you clip two 9V batteries together by opposing prongs the battery will heat up. Now after the battery is nice and hot toss it in cool water.

Im stupid enough to try that

Re:the battery, it was on the gun when it happened. Can the same thing be true while DISCHARGING?

It can, there is no difference to the cell between charging and discharging chemical reaction wise.

In the reaction, charge/discharge gives off hydrogen atoms

Do you remember having to add water to "older" car batteries, you actually where replenishing the batteries hydrogen
