Before D-Day there was Monte Cassino: A Wayne Dollack Event
Before D-Day there was Monte Cassino
August 20th & 21st, 2005 A Wayne Dollack Event Challenge Park Xtreme and Wayne Dollack 24 Hour Role-Playing Scenario Games, Inc. present: Monte Cassino Before D-Day there was Monte Cassino Hitler had declared that the Allied drive toward Rome must be stopped at all costs, and in the winter of 1943-44 the German commander, Albert Kesselring chose the fortress-like monastery of Monte Cassino as the centerpiece of the Gustav Line. The strongest point was a 1700 foot high promontory crowned by a vast sixth-century monastery whose walls were 20 feet thick at the base. This being the only readily negotiable route to Rome, invaders would have to pass within range of the German guns that crowned Cassino. In early 1944, Allied forces launched an offensive campaign against the Gustav Line. Although Allied and Axis leaders had agreed not to wantonly destroy historical monuments, some Allied commanders suspected that the Germans had seized and fortified the abbey, thereby making it a valid target. In actual fact, the monastery was off-limits to German soldiers. On February 15, the Allies dropped almost 600 tons of bombs during a daylight raid. By February 17th, battle-tested German soldiers from the elite 1st Paratroop Division, the Green Devils, had entrenched themselves amidst the rubble of the courtyards and destroyed buildings, forming an excellent defensive position. Built in 529 by Saint Benedict of Nursia, the monastary was the birthplace of the Benedictine order. The destruction of the sixth-century monastery is a powerful symbol of the toll war takes on history and culture. Monte Cassino was one of the most sacred sites in Christendom and the home to valuable religious artifacts, and many irreplaceable treasures. In massive Allied bombings, the site and its countless artifacts were reduced to rubble. With hair-raising FX sights and sounds simulating actual battle conditions, this will surely be an epic event. Awards for tanks and prizes for the best uniform costumes. Up to $5000 in Prize-Giveaway. When: August 20 and 21, 2005 Where: Callenge Park Xtreme, Joliet, IL For more information contact Challenge Park Xtreme, 815-726-2800 or Wayne Dollack 352-401-1801, email wd24hour@atlantic.net or visit our website www.waynes-world.com |

Away
When I first started playing at Wayne's World a couple of years ago, it actually seemed like he had more away games. They were about equally distributed between his field and other fields.
This year there is only two away games of note. The Monte Cassino game outside Chicago, Illinois and Paintoberfest with Viper in Texas. BTW, Viper is doing the Grand Finale again this year, BUT AS A GENERAL. It sounds like a large Texas posse is coming to Florida with him. I do believe Wayne's World is going to break the 1,739 player record this year!!!! |

Yes
I am sure that is a great field, but if someone has not played a scenario game written by the "godfather" of scenarioball, Wayne Dollack, at Challenge Park Xtreme then they would be a fool to pass on the opportunity to be part of this historic event.

I wouldn't go just because it is at CPX, of course our team will be at Realms, it is a much better time and if the game is like last years it will be a great time. I loved the MORF format.

I know it is unfair to compare two scenario producers via viewing video from past games since not all scenario producers videotape their games........ Sure,
Here are some I took last month when MXS was out. I missed alot of the awards and such because a fellow teammate had to be taken to the hospital but I got alot of good shots during the game. The creek out there is awsome play. http://www.1stmg.net/album/thumbnails.php?album=25 |

Intoxication
Nice looking field. A little short on structures, but I love the creek.
The only thing I didn't like was the irresponsible mixing of alcohol and paintball. That is something 99 percent of paintball fields do not allow!!!!! When you see that many people doing Karaoke you know the booze is flowing too freely. ![]() It was also nice to see MXS again. They put on a great game! Yes I did. Sorry for the confusion on my part and statements I made on pbnation.
Looking at the pictures it looks like it is a choice between some basic backwoods ball or some more advanced paintball scenario come August. Thomas Fletcher www.ragtopvideo.com Last edited by Ragtop1968 : 06-17-2005 at 06:21 AM. Reason: added picture |

You said it - the Wretched 7 game will be far more advanced that the Dollack game because of the MORF - mission oriented real-time format. What this means is the Generals have full controll of their troops making it a much more fun, interesting and challenging game, esspecially from a stratigic standpoint, than anything even Dollack could produce. I know because Ive played both formats. Dollack may have started Scenario Paintball - and I am eternaly grateful for that, but just like everything else, the sport has to evolve and this is the next best thing to happen to Scenarioball since Dollack gave birth to the sport. Even Viper is doing a version of it, only he calls it "RTS". The MORF format worked out perfect because on the level of organization on the staff's part, and the unbelievable level of talent out there on the field. Teams like OMHW, NAPALM, Dark Legion, The Region Rats, 1st MG, and many more (almost 300 people showed up last year) were out there getting their pwn on. What teams are coming to your game? This year we will also have remote air stations on the field!!!
Also, RoR doesnt have to charge $50.00 per player, they are only asking $35.00 and I guarantee you that paint for the Dollack game will be at least $10.00 - $15.00 more per case than at RoR (since you guys wont post your paint prices, Im assuming that you are charging $85.00 just like you are for The Last of the Samuris). Lastly, I want to mention night play. I have never seen such participation at night than I did last year at RoR - it was sooooo much fun. Wretched 7 sells quality glow in the dark paint - http://www.nightpaintball.com/newsite/products.html AND spent like 2 hours turning our A5 hoppers into UV hoppers. They bent over backwards to make sure we all had a great time - and we all did! . The only bending over that has occured at CPX in my experience has been on my part! So, our game is waaaay cheaper, will probably have a more talented crowd, will be running on a more advanced, and far more realistic real-time format, will have waaay more participation at night (with glow in the dark paint AND glow in the dark grenades!), will have a more organized customer service oriented staff, will include game patches, give aways and trophies, have better and cheaper paint, and will be WAAAAY more fun to camp at. With attendance last year at nearly 300, Dollack is CRAZY to schedule his game on the same weekend. When producers and fields have no reguard for other producers and fields (esspecially within 20 miles) it only hurts the producers, fields and players. So, why should we pay more money and have to watch our stuff like hawks (CPX has an incredible theft problem) just because its Wayne Dollack?? Forget that noise - Ill see you all at the Wretched 7 Challenge - http://www.realmsofruin.com/scenarios.htm |

I haven't commented on paint prices, because I do not know what the prices will be. I will ask Mr. Dollack the next time I see him.
Let's see.......... What you get for 35 dollars ![]() What you get for 15 dollars more Thomas Fletcher www.ragtopvideo.com Last edited by Ragtop1968 : 06-17-2005 at 01:55 PM. Reason: spelling |

Bad Reviews
I read all the reviews from that site and they all seem to pertain to regular weekend games: private parties limiting places to play, long times between games, and expensive. This describes just about every paintball field in my opinion.
I hate regular play because of those things too, but with scenarioball you have access to the ENTIRE FIELD all day and with resurrection you can play as much paintball as your body can handle for $25 a day. The biggest problem with CPX from the reviews seems to be crappy refs and crappy paint. Hopefully the Dollacks can convince the park owner to help with those problems like using scenario teams as refs and maybe some different grades of paint. Stay Tuned! Whose experienced?
Going out to film a game this weekend so can't respond to everything.
"Boring" video is better then NO video. How many times have you made it on film or the net playing at ROR? Links? How many times have you been covered in the leading Paintball magazines? Thomas Fletcher www.ragtopvideo.com P.S. MXS sponsored teams ---- Doom Troopers. That would be these players who appear in just about every video I have made (30+) because they are all over the field. ![]() Tex and the Doom Troopers are featured in this video taking the opposing team's base flag: http://www.ragtopvideo.com/me/bo2.wmv Last edited by Ragtop1968 : 06-18-2005 at 06:41 AM. |

Ahhh, the Doom Troopers - yes, Ive heard of them. I just couldnt tell who they were from the pic - no team banner. So you still have not answered my question - which teams that you know of so far are going to Dollack's game? If you dont know yet - keep me posted on who wil be going. As far as me being photographed - it happens from time to time, but no one on my team is out there carrying a camera - we are too busy carrying our guns and too busy working our a**es off to really care about pictures and video.
Oh, and as far as being covered in the "leading paintball magazines" - Scenario players dont care about being in magazines - we only care about playing in as many scenario games as we can afford, and have the time to go to. The pics we take are for our enjoyment, not for magazines. All of the players I know, including myself dont even waste our money on those magazines - we spend it on paint instead! ![]() |

Potential Sponsors
Just got back from filming the Operation Just Cause game at Old River Paintball attended by the Fugitves, The Mayberry Marauders, Doom Troopers, Blitzkrieg well Sandspur anyway, and XF http://www.xtremefanatics.com/
As for Monte Cassino, the Dollacks will be supplying the paint for the event I assume through National Paintball Supply which is their usual paint and equipment vendor. I still do not know the price or which teams will be attending. Thomas Fletcher www.ragtopvideo.com Last edited by Ragtop1968 : 06-19-2005 at 08:02 PM. |

Yeah, Lord knows how those potential team sponsors hate to see teams featured in paintball magazines and on the net. They shy away from those high-profile teams and events. -note sarcasm- Wayne Dollack at CPX is going to be an historic paintball event that will naturally get a lot of attention. Wayne will be bringing the paint, Diablo, to the event and Wayne will be in control of play at CPX between Aug. 21-22. You can see how people rate Wayne's management style at PBREVIEW It will be the place to be, not just in Chicago, but in North America!!!! ![]() |

Yeah pbreview is right. The Ref's at CPX are kids but at what field are they not. Yeah and we are jerks when it comes to people being stupid and taking off their goggles. We don't stand for it. Also, I don't think anyone can complain about reffing at any field until they have tried to ref. Reffing is a thankless job and even when you do a good job, there is always that one jerk that makes your life hell because you made a call that he thinks is bad. As for cheating, Ref's are not there to stop cheating, we are only there to punish the ones we find that are cheating, if people have a problem with cheating then they should look to the people they are playing with and get them to stop the cheating. Having many paintball fields in this area just makes paintball that much better.
