Band of Brothers DVD Set is AWSOME!

One of the things I got for Christmas this year was the full box set from the HBO series, Band of Brothers. With six DVDs, you get over 10 hours of historical military drama that rivals Saving Private Ryan... in fact, its very similar in terms of scenery and camera work. If you liked Private Ryan, you'll cream your pants if you watch Band of Brothers.

It follows the 506th "Easy Company" of the 101st Airborne division through training, their drop into Normandy, through Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and right up to the end of the war... after each episode an entirely new and unique fact about a character or unit is revealed, which makes you want to watch more. It's strangely addicting.

The technical advising for the movie was outstanding... and each piece of military equipment is brought to life with stunning realism. Even the Tigers and Sdkfz halftracks look impecable compared to some good ol' war movies that just doctor up old American tanks... even when the objects aren't real, and are computer generated, they look absolutely amazing... It's unreal when the flak and AA start shooting up the C-47s going into Normandy

I'm done my rant now. It retails for $90, but instead of getting 4 or 5 separate movies... drop the money on this if you're into the military. Its WELL worth it! Me and my college buddies are already gearing up for a 10 hour Band of Brothers marathon when we get back on campus

I saw it when it first came out on HBO. It's actually the reason i subscribed to HBO to begin with. It's one of the best war series out there. Very much like Saving Private Ryan.

It's the same or better than Saving Private Ryan because Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg produced/directed it. You guys probably knew that though considering you own it. I saw it when it came out on HBO too and every episode was amazing. It was also really, really hard to wait an entire week just to see the next one. :)

I caught that when it first aired on HBO. In my humble opinion, it topped Saving Private Ryan in every aspect.

I was very close to buying the DVD set...but instead I bought an intelli.

I rented the first couple episodes, then decided to buy it. They should make kids in US history class watch this mini series.

You can't even compare SPR to Band of Brothers. B.O.B. just blows SPR out of the water in every aspect.

I actually watched it when it was on HBO. Excellent (X3) mini series if I may say so myself, incredibly well done. The only reason I would rate it higher than SPR, is because it was based on a true story.
