open/closed bolt

i know this has been discussed a million times before and please dont flame me...
but i need to shut up my friend, he is obsessed with SP and the shocker and says closed bolt is soo much better no matter what i say or show him threads that prove him wrong, i quote from him: (we were talking about accuracy)

closed vs open is a big difference, but people who have open wont say anything that thier guns are worse (again were talking about accuracy)

so, what should i say or show him to shut him up? its driving me insane that he goes on and on about SP and then i use his thing against him with the new shocker possibly being open bolt (wouldnt that be an inaccurate gun ) but he just makes up random excuses...

Not trying to piss people off, but isn't there some advantage to closed bolt. I know it wont give you increased range. But there has to be some advantage to having it fire from the closed position. Doent there?

Hello Minus,

well, paintballs are inherently innaccurate, so i think any difference in open/closed would be negligible. and open bolt guns can shot faster.

there is no real advantage to either design in accuracy. In fact, 2k3 SP shocker may be an open bolt design because they are having such a problem making it work. No real advantage in efficientcy. (shocker is a gashog worse than mag) Only advantage it used to have may have been in bolt chop, but with levelx, that is no longer an issue either. Nope. don't see any advantage.

Warpig did an article comparing the two bolt design. they proved that there was no difference. (they used a marker that was modded to shoot in both open and closed bolt fashion)

chrono your mag and his shocker to 280fps. set them both on a table so teir barrel is level and at the same height. then shoot them. you'll notice that the range will be very similar (if its within 10' its te same) and the accuracy too will be similar

just ruin him on the field. That way when he is in the dead box, whoevers gun is more accurate wont matter.

Here's the Warpig test that was mentioned before. Show this to your friend, then ask him to provide YOU a link to an unbiased technical document describing a tightly controlled test to compare open bolt and closed bolt designs that prove HIS assertion that closed bolts are more accurate. If he can't (and he won't be able to), then you win the battle.

Well, first off,SP states "closed bolt accuracy" they make no direct comparison to open bolts. So yes, closed bolts are accurate. At least as accurate as open bolts.

As stated millions of times, all guns FIRE from a closed bolt/breach regardless of how they got that way prior to the release of air.

Jay.

FYI, why does everyone feel the need to "convince" people to change thier opinions.Let him think what ever he wants, state your beliefs and get over it.
