I was wondering if there are any other sax players on AO? I play alto and have been playing for like 3 years. I wanted to know if there are any websites where I can get sheet music/notes for popular (or maybe not so popular) music. I'm mainly looking for ska stuff, catch 22 and the like...

I play Tenor, Alto, and Bari sax. Don't bother with sheet music, just learn to improv!!

I probably wouldn't be playing the saxophone anymore if I didn't learn how to improv so well. Anyways I've been playing for about 6-7 years and I'm 1st chair in both my school's Symphonic band and Jazz band. I'm also a part of a few other bands for some one time gig's, some of which pay very well  ....

We have software at my school that can break down music files to sheet music, I could take a try at some the songs you mentioned.

That software sounds pretty cool. Would it be possible for you to just send me a burned copy or somehting? It's not just one song that I want to get the notes to, there are a bunch of them, so it would be easier than me giving you a ton of titles.

I also play Alto here up at UT Austin. I enjoy playing on my Selmer Mark VI, best sax ever. What kind of saxes do you all play on?

My instructor has a Selemer Mark VI alto, a very fine sax indeed.

I play on Yamaha Custom tenor saxophone and a Yamaha 62 alto sax. The bari I play on is borrowed from my school, the thing is so old I doubt I could tell you the model if I wanted to...

I am not a skilled saxamaphone player. But this one time, me and my friend(who plays sax) went down to mainstreet in front of L.M.I.(local record store) and played a little improv jazz. We decided to do a trick when a couple people were watchin. I was playin guitar, and then he put the mouthpiece in my mouth and he played the fingerings, while I still played guitar. It was pretty cool, and we made like $30. Good times.

The tenor sax it to the left of me in practice.....He's so loud. It's like....the band and oscar. Lol, my one snare over powers him though. :D :D
