okay, I just got a used 4500 Pure Energy system and I screwed it into my new CP on/off and the reg seperated into two pieces. I'm quite capable of putting it back together, that's not the problem. I just need to know if I need to put loctite on it, and if so, what kind? I have teflon tape on it right now, but I'm sure it's not gonna last. Any help?

no teflon, thats for sure

as in the reg is coming out fromt he bottle or the reg is coming apart into two parts?

if its the former, no worries, just put it back in. this is normal without pressure

if its the latter, then you do need to put some blue loctite on and put it back in solidly

well on pe well the later ones its 2 grub screws that hold it on so they must not have been tight enough

i had the same problem with the top half of the reg unscrewing. the tank was leaking under 1k psi so I called jesse from pmi and he sent me a new o ring wich was allegedly the problem, and told me to just loctite threads of the reg and 2 set screws on the side when i put it back together.

whoa python, i am really sorry about that. i had no idea that the reg wasnt secured. i guess i should have checked it out before i sent it to you. i am extrememly unhappy with the guys who did the hydro job. i got it back with none of the blow disks, the guage, or the fill nipple screwed back. its the last time i ever use them for hydroing again.

red loc tite.. don't put it on the bottom of the threads... make sure it's higher closer to the reg part... and also.. do not get oil/grease in to the tank...

Don't worry Zaust. I'm easy to please anyway. Plus, it gave me something to tinker with.

i think were thinking 2 diffrent things. on tanks that are 2k2 or better have it so u can remove the top of the reg makeing it so u can get at the internals and its held on by 2 set screws

This tank is older then. It doesn't have any set screws on it.
