Well, I'm in the process of buying all new gear ever since I quit, and I've been looking at several gear bags, I had a JT GearSack at one time and it was WAY too small for all my crap. Since then I was using a BIG suitcase with rollers on it, but it was all ripped up so I threw it away.

anyways, I've been looking at the Dye 4day, Redz, Mantis Thorax, and JT SUV Large Roller. Jt was the only website that didnt have dimensions of their bag, so I'm a little skeptical of how big it is.

24"x14"x14" - Dye 4Day
38"x16"x16" - Redz
34"x--"x16" - Mantis
??"x??"x??" - JT Large SUV

They are pretty much the same price, between $130-$150, so thats not something im worried about

I'm kinda leaning toward the Redz because its the biggest as far as i know, i also kinda like the hard mask compartment and the free chair:) I kinda like the Pod holders and the fact that you can use the mantis as a backpack. but I dunno

But I wanted to see what everybody else though, or what you use.

Thanks
Cliff

I personally use a dye weekender, but would STRONGLY recomend the new redz bags. A teammate has one, and it holds (safely) 4 guns, 4 tanks, mask, 2 hoppers, 7 barrels, freak case, 11 pods, pack, all little things (barrel condoms, squeegee, etc) dye pants, dye jersey, with a bit of extra room. Those figgures are TRUE :D I am gonna sell my weekender for one.

I've got the JT large one and it's pretty awesome. I haven't seen the newer versions of mantis or Redz so I can't comment on those.

The main problem with the JT one is by the time I get it full I HAVE to roll it, it weighs too much to carry!

I have the redz one, and I can fit everything I need to take to the feild in it. No complaints and the chair is nice too.

I have the redz one and I actually use the little chair. ;) I also have one of those small fold up tables that I use with the chair.

I wouldn't buy a bag made specifically for paintball that did not have a "spot" especially for goggles. I like the redz bag. I'd personally like more pockets, but otherwise it is nice. It will hold two markers and equipment without much problem,.

I have a redz bag and actually would like to get something different. I do not like the wheels on them, they are too narrow and cause the bag to tip while being towed. I have yet to try one of the mantis bags, but am looking into getting one.

I do not have either one of these, but I think I am going to buy both in the near future...

The Smokin' Paintball Gear Boxes is serious arse, though so does the price. I first saw these beasts at the Shatner game and concluded that I need a few of these to keep my beloved collection safe while at home or on the road.

The gear bag that I want is the DYE Navigator. This thing is amazing!!! Ask Dayspring, he's got one. Again, it's pretty pricy, but this thing can fit everything including the kitchen sink and the bathtub!

Other than that, I have always liked the Extreme Rage bags.

Wheels being to small or narrow…..

This is an important thing. My bag also has wheels much like the bags posted, but they too are just too darn small to be useful for anything other than wheeling through an airport.

My wife and I have spotted some nice LARGE wheel carts at Sam’s Club that would be perfect for paintball stuff……… if only they had the bag like the rest. At some point we may combine them, or make our own…… at some point.

I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond. They had this $30 bag that had wheels and a telescoping handle. Then I used a $5 coupon I got in the mail. It's not like some super mega quality bag of course, but it seems good enough for paintball. It does have some sort of floor to it that helps it keep its shape, plus is probably the housing for the telescoping handle.

In it, I stuff:
Black plastic gun case made for 2 handguns
Toolkit that's about the same profile as the gun case but maybe half the thickness; holds a bunch of tools like wrenches, tape, batteries, extra fittings, parts kits
A small overnight-type bag that folds and is made to hang over doors; holds sunscreen, bug spray, a 4oz CO2 bottle, that gun lube stuff, air filter, elbows, extra barrel plugs, etc.
Knee pads, change of clothes, some paper towels, and bandanas in the two outside pockets.
I put a cardboard box in there as a separator to keep things from banging around and stuff; the tanks go in here, plus a big piece of foam to keep things snug.
One 47ci tank, one 45ci tank, and one 20oz tank
A can of silicon spray
Redz 3.2 belt+pack, and 7 140rnd pods
One hopper; could probably stuff a second in there easily
All my barrels of course
Probably some other stuff I forgot to mention
And all this crap isn't banging around in there either; the only things that might bang around are the tanks, and two of them have neoprene covers and all of them are held snugly by the big piece of foam. The only obvious omission is the facemask. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I know how to get that in there while still keeping it safe...

Maybe I'll get a picture of it sometime.

Before you go blow $130+ on a bag, I recommend you stop and consider what you're paying for, and why you're willing to pay MORE for it.

I do understand the wheel complaint thing; sometimes you wind up wheeling your bag through some rough areas. Personally, when I'm at the field, my bag doesn't leave my car. It stays locked up. If I need my tools or something, they're in their own carrier and I can pull that out and take it if I really need it anywhere but the car.

I've got the ratco bag I bought for 35 bux used. While its not huge, it will fit two guns nice (or one gun plus your harness, misc stuff on the other side) its a good match of size/storage. THe bags you guys are looking at are like for taking every paintball thing you own, while thats convenient its nice to have a bag that isnt so huge its unwieldy and the ratco bag fits well.

The Dye bags are so bloodily overpriced it isn't funny. For real, theyre 2 feet long and 1 foot tall, and 150 bucks...I'd expect a little more, like what the JT bag offers. IMO the JT and the Redz are the nicest.

I only paid 100 for my dye bag, it holds all of my gear including gun and mask and extra parts...

I use a large nike gear bag that I bought at sports chalet for 29.99. It holds all of my gear and then some. If you want a pic of it I can take some...just thought I'd try and save you a few dollars.

I'm gonna have to agree with zumina on this. Dont get me wrong them are some nice gear bags, but I'm not going to burn that kinda money on a friggin bag man. I got me a big 'ol storage bin with rollers for like $12 at walmart, hold ALL my gear, gun case and room for more. not to mention it's more protective than a soft case that some dote can sit on.

I looked at an Empire bag. They didn't impress me, the pockets seemed to be in the wrong place too.. I have a Nexed NX Pro bag and it works great for me. I almost bought a Redz bag but I think they are too Narrow. If you can find an older Planet Eclipse gearbag, those are really nice I still have and use mine, after 3 hard years of weekly use, it's still holding up..

I've got one of those ratco's too. It's great for a smaller bag. But I need something that can hold nearly as much as the bed of my truck.
I use the ratco for transporting stuff when I'm not actually playing, but just transporting markers and tanks.
