We just made it through a good wind storm. Unfortunately the city is now without some of its oldes trees. It'll be a week or two before things are totally back to normal here. Here's some pics.

Halifax, N.S., Canada.

That is crazy! I've seen big trees uprooted like that from tornados but not just from wind. And that many! What was the speed of the wind?

Wind speeds were sustained at 80 to 100 mph for about 2 hours.

That would be a low-level jet stream. That is amazing the size of trees that were just blown over.

I don't think there has been that kind of wind here since the Halifax explosion in 1917.

The weather was nice all day preceding the storm. Then the storm came at night. When we came out in the morning, the sun was shining and it was warm again.

we had straight line winds in my home town several years ago. It knocked over an 80 ft ash tree... Lucky for us it fell parallel with the road. But it went across three different properties!

The trees in the second pictures look like they could be pulled back upright. If they pruned the crap out of them now they still might be able to come back next year. It being so close to winter and all.

That is some crazyiness though.
